#2 Teva Women’s Tirra

Paid Link

The Tirra is great for:

  • High arches
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Morton’s Neuroma
  • Bunions and hammertoes
  • Metatarsalgia
  • Overpronation and flat feet
  • Regular to wide feet
  • Achilles Tendonitis
  • Shin splints
  • Arthritic knees

Are Teva sandals good for Plantar Fasciitis and high arches? Absolutely yes.

Keep on reading…

Terrific and the Tirra from Teva go together. The Tirra is designed to deliver personal support and comfort with women’s specific fit.

Nearly every wearer of the Teva Tirra swears by the amazing arch support and level of comfort it offers. You can actually walk longer miles and stay on your feet the whole day without worrying about your Plantar Fasciitis’ flare-ups.

Coupled with a cushioned deep heel cup, the Teva’s nice amount of support in all the right places helps realign your foot. Accordingly, the Tirra solves issues of overpronation, which is the leading cause behind Plantar Fasciitis.

The Tirra is that kind of super-duper comfortable sandal you put on right out of the box, stand up and immediately go Ahhhhhh…

This outstanding level of comfort is guaranteed by the shock-absorbing ShockPad Technology in the heel which delivers ample shock absorption, great cushioning, and uninhibited comfortable performance.

It is also nicely lined on the interior with a contoured cushion women-specific design. It’s super soft and squishy.

It looks delicate but packs a punch thanks to its grippy athletic type outsole construction. The Teva’s durable original Spider Rubber outsole with water channeling lug design offers unrelenting grip and traction in wet and dry conditions.

This means that the Teva Tirra is ideal for everyday use as well as water sports and summer walks. The Tirra is substantial enough not to feel every bump as you take every step.

Hook and Loop

This sandal is supremely lightweight with a delicate strappy design. The three hook and loop straps are completely adjustable and hug the foot so there’s no slipping or flopping whatsoever.

This beautiful strap design makes it possible for everybody to customize the fit exactly to their specifications. This in itself is a huge bonus as the people with a high instep or people whose feet tend to swell just have to loosen the straps a bit and they’re good to go. So the strap design makes the Tirra one of the best sandals for high instep.

Break-in Period

A lot of sandals require a certain period of time to break in. This is not the case with the Tirra because it’s comfortable right out of the box.

All the straps are lined with what feels like neoprene so you won’t have to worry about rubbing, blistering, chafing or arch discomfort.

The Tirra fits true to size and fits like a glove. A lot of people have trouble fitting into a lot of sandals, but the Tirra comfortably accommodates high arches, high instep, wide width, and left and right different sizes.

The Tirra is attractive enough to go with jeans and some casual slacks and skirts. It’s easy to clean even if it gets muddy. Just throw it in the washing machine and it nicely comes out as beautiful as new. The Teva Tirra is indestructible and stylish.

If you’re the kind of girl who likes style, function, and an indestructible sandal, the Tirra is for you.

  • It’s more practical than cute.
  • People with narrow feet have to pull the Velcro straps so far. The straps kind of dangle over the edge because the Velcro does not run along the entire strap.

#3 Olukai Women’s & Men’s Ohana

Paid Link

The Ohana is great for:

  • High arches
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Metatarsalgia
  • Achilles Tendonitis
  • Flat feet
  • Wide feet
  • Narrow feet
  • Bunions

Summer is on its way and flip-flops are the name of the game.

Olukai has got great products that interject a lot of technology to give you comfortable sandals that properly support you.

One of them is the Olukai Ohana. This mega sandal does not only look comfortable but is actually healthy for you.

Unlike a lot of flip-flops with flat soles, the Ohana’s curve provides great comfort and support for high arches.

This sandal is sure to feel like part of your family. After all, Ohana does mean ‘Family’. ‘Olu’ stands for comfort and ‘Kai’ means ‘of the ocean or the water’. They’re two Polynesian words put together.

The Ohana is referred to as a flip-flop with the support of a running shoe. The Ohana is part of Olukai’s Makai collection, which means ‘towards the ocean’. You can wear it between workouts, running errands around the city, and of course, you can wear it to everybody’s favorite place, the beach.

Olukai does a great job of incorporating leather into a lot of different styles that they make including water-friendly styles like the Ohana.

Upper and Straps

It features a vegan leather upper that’s very durable. Yes, vegan. Throw it in your gym bag or wear it in the rain, it won’t scuff or scratch.

The Ohana is definitely equipped for the ocean with water-resistant synthetic leather straps lined with a soft quick-drying jersey knit and a neoprene backer.

Midsole and Arch Support

The thing that makes the Ohana a great sandal is the anatomical compression midsole. The EVA midsole is lightweight, shock-absorbing, and just molds to your foot for a personalized fit.
The biggest difference you’re going to find between Olukai sandals and other brands is the arch support. The Ohana features a nice big anatomical arch that’s been biomechanically engineered.

That’s a lot of big words …

What that actually means is that you’ve got a sandal that correctly supports your foot, provides great support for your high arches, supports your back, supports your legs, and makes sure you have an absolutely comfortable walking experience.

Heel Cup

Looking at the back, there’s a nice cup detail towards the heel. If you’ve worn sandals for a long time, you’ve certainly noticed that your heel is centered either on the right side or the left side of the sandal and it also has a tendency to roll.

What the Olukai’s deep heel cup does is it keeps your foot solidly in place so it’s correctly cushioned in the center of the sandal.

This design of the heel cup and also the arch support makes sure that your toes and your foot are always correctly in place meaning you don’t have to grip your sandal with your toes, which gets quite annoying if you want to wear your sandals for a while.

The outsole is non-marking rubber with razor siping around the perimeter to help grip wet surfaces.

So whether you’re fishing, you’re on a boat or you’re at the beach, the Ohana is a great all-around water sandal that looks good and feels great on your feet.

The outsole has a super aggressive tread as well, which is great for the beach and great for walking down trails and rocky surfaces.

For a well-built flip-flop that’s extremely comfortable and supportive, you can’t go wrong with the Olukai Ohana.

Last but not least proceeds from the Ohana collection go to the Olukai Ohana Giveback Program which is dedicated to protecting and restoring Hawaiian resources and culture.

  • Not very grippy on wet tile floors.

#4 Chaco Women’s ZX2

The Tirra is great for:

  • High arches
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Flat feet (break-in time required)
  • Morton’s Neuroma
  • Bunions
  • Regular to wide feet

With a 5-star rating from hundreds of fans who wear the ZX/2 every day, there are plenty of reasons to fall in love with these Chacos.

In 1989 a Colorado rafting guide had a simple idea: a custom-fit sandal that stays on your feet no matter the adventure. The new and improved classic Z sandal from Chaco is the same iconic adventure sandal with exciting new upgrades.

The Classic Z takes its name from the Z-shaped straps that wrap around the foot and through the midsole for a truly custom fit.

Make sure not to miss our article discussing what makes Chacos effective for alleviating plantar fasciitis; it could be the solution you’ve been seeking for foot comfort.

The Chaco is everything but boring. Bright colors and fun patterns light up the jacquard upper that comfortably supports your feet thanks to a toe loop and an adjustable buckle closure.

It features jacquard webbing straps that are woven through the midsole to give you the perfect fit because you can just give a little tug and it completely adjusts.

I also love that it has a toe loop at the front, which is going to give you a little bit more security with every single step. Once you’re done fastening the ZX/2 to your foot, you can tighten things up a bit with a compression-molded buckle at the side by giving it a little tug.

Luvseat Technology

Chaco crafted a doctor-certified Luvseat footbed made from polyurethane that won’t compress over time so you can keep the Chaco on your feet longer.

Luvseat is made with gender-specific cushioning designed to match the natural curvature of your feet for the best fit made just for you. This results in comfort and support all day long.

The Outsole

The updated classic Z is outfitted with the brand new ChacoGrip rubber outsole with 3mm lugs.

The outsole draws on major advances in wet traction and durability to offer the highest degree of grip. Pair that with new tread designs for men and women and you’ve got a performance package ready to take you anywhere.

This sandal is durable and built to last thanks to the proven design that’s refined over nearly 20 years of wear.

Being the perfect shoe for outdoor adventure and everyday life, the Classic Z is a proven classic made better than ever that is going 25 years strong. It’s lighter weight but just as great.

  • The design behind the straps requires some getting used to.
  • It’s a bit on the heavier side.

#5 Earth Origins Women’s Sophie

Paid Link

The Sophie is great for:

  • High arches
  • Morton’s Neuroma
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Bunions and hammertoes
  • Bad knees
  • Flat feet
  • Wide feet
  • Arthritic feet

If you’re somebody who doesn’t like to wear sneakers but you want to walk, this is that travel sandal you can’t go wrong with. Just put it in your suitcase and forget about it.

The Sophie is beautifully done and it’s customer top-rated. Everybody loves all the different branches of the earth tree, but the Sophie is going to be your most affordable and most everyday sandal.

This is a great sandal to have because of the versatility and also because of the comfort you’re going to get.

The main callout on the Sophie is that adjustability. People love the two points of adjustability across the instep and the toes. Also, the back has the dual-adjustability as well.

The straps have some great top stitching with a little bit of laser cutting along the middle strap connecting the two main parts of the sandal.

Earth Origins added a middle strap because what that does is it cuts your foot and makes your foot look slender, longer, and more delicate. This is a great feature in a sport sandal like this.

Sport Sandal & Slide Two in One

As far as the back strap, you can make the Sophie convertible. Just remove the back strap and put it somewhere so you don’t lose it and then you can have a brand-new shoe.

So if you’re traveling, the Sophie saves you the trouble and space of packing a sport sandal and a slide because it’s two in one.

This is a suede sport sandal and it’s super feminine. It has nice soft lining so it’s going to feel really soft on your foot.

Arch Support

When we walk, we put three times our body weight on our heel strike. So it’s really important that you have the proper support, the cushioning, but also the shock absorption.

The arch support is pronounced and comes up and greets the arch. Not only are you going to get the support but also the soft cushioning in the arch, in the heel, in the ball of the foot.

The heel cup is cushiony and it follows all the way through to the toe.

The outsole is solid and has some nice tread to it. The tread pattern offers great grip on a variety of surfaces.

The Sophie comes in medium and wide and what that means is you can really customize the fit on this. Style-wise, you can wear the Sophie with your maxi dress and it will look perfect.

Last but not least, if you’re doing any kind of walking in theme parks, boardwalks, sightseeing and what have you, this is a must-have style.

Available in half sizes and some wide sizes, the Sophie will take you from 7 am to 7 pm with happy feet at the end of the day.

  • The ankle strap is a bit short for people with high insteps.

#6 Keen Women’s Rose

Paid Link

The Rose is great for:

  • High arches
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Flat feet
  • Wide duck feet
  • Morton’s Neuroma
  • Bunions and hammertoes
  • Bad knees
  • Arthritic feet

This entire Keen brand is about performance but at the same about lifestyle. You don’t have to be a hiker to love these.

You can live in the middle of the city and never see a tree, but you’re going to like the Rose if you happen to go out and you have to skip through some water.

This adventure-ready sandal will help you tackle any sort of exploration that you might have on the horizon (running errands, running around with kids, down by the river, over by the lake, at the beach, around the pool, around the garden, you name it).

We put Keen against Teva and Chaco. Check which sandals are the best for you.

Women’s Specific Fit

One great thing about the Rose is it’s definitely more of a women’s specific fit. What that means is the Rose has a narrower toe box, but that doesn’t mean it’s actually narrow, it’s got a really nice fit. It’s a little bit dressier of a style than the Keen Newport.

The upper is really easy to wash and keep clean and it’s breathable. The upper has a really cool pattern that goes right across the top of your foot and adds a nice little elegant design to such an adventurous sandal.

The ankle strap offers some really solid adjustability. This allows you to slip your foot in comfortably and then you can just basically put the strap on and adjust to your fit.

You do have that added security of a hook-and-loop closure that’s going to wrap around your ankle and customize the exact fit of your foot.

The strap design is really nice so you won’t have to worry about this sandal slipping off especially when it gets wet.

The adjustable hook-and-loop closure

The Rose is super lightweight and kind of molds and hugs your foot so you don’t feel like you actually have much on. Every time you take a step, it’s almost just like a second skin.

Check out our review of the Keen Whisper for women.

Machine Washable

The Keen Rose is water-proof and machine washable. You can wear it just anywhere and you won’t have to worry about how to clean it. Just toss it in the washing machine, add a little mild detergent, pull it out, let it dry and you’re good to go.

Famous Toe Guard

The Rose features Keen’s traditional Toe Protect and this is where Keen actually started as a company ‘can a sandal really protect your toes?’

The toe protector comes up and over the toe so you don’t have to worry about bumping your toes on any sort of rocks or boulders.

One last thing about the toe protector, you don’t want to mess up your pedicure and that’s one great thing about the toe guard.

Another great thing about the Rose is it offers lots of comfort. It’s got a great anatomical footbed offering lots of cushion underfoot.

It contours around your feet and it offers great arch support making you feel like walking on air.

The technologies embedded just deliver instant support and comfort right out of the box. The footbed is also incredibly squishy thanks to that EVA.

The Cleansport NXT amazingly controls odor so your sandals will always be feeling fresh.

The EVA material is throughout the midsole as well which helps keep the Rose incredibly lightweight and flexible.

The bottom has some multi-directional lugs, which is going to provide excellent traction and ease every stride while the TPU stability shank also produces more control when you’re trekking on your adventure.

With sizes going from 5 through 12, the Keen Rose sandal will fit and look great whether you want to hit the trails or just use it as a casual option.

I can’t guarantee that your feet are going to smell like roses if you put these sandals on, but they’ll definitely be as cute as a Rose.

  • You can’t adjust the ankle completely, which is not good for people with really wide feet.

#7 Vionic Women’s Rest Bella II

Paid Link

The Bella is great for:

  • High arches
  • Flat feet
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Regular to wide feet
  • Morton’s Neuroma
  • Bunions
  • Bad knees
  • Arthritic feet and hips

First off, a thong sandal is never something people would have thought has orthotic technology.

Usually, sandals, flip-flops, or any sort of open-toe footwear are the last thing a podiatrist would recommend for you.

But what you’re getting with the Bella II is podiatrist-designed technology that’s built into something that’s really stylish. It’s really contemporary from a look perspective.

The patent finish enables you to dress this up if you wanted to. It’s a casual comfortable style but it is very easy to sort of elevate the look a little bit particularly with those rich colors it comes in.

The patent upper strap is soft and adorned with a cute little bow and for added elegance, the bow has little metallic end caps that are trimmed with the Vionic ‘V’ logo. The strap is thin but sits nice and high up the foot.

This sandal is designed to support your arches and help realign your lower legs while reducing overpronation and related aches and pains.
The midsole is made of EVA and EVA is what they use in those high-end running shoes. So you gain that construction and cushioning and support underneath your foot. Then Vionic put beautiful microsuede covering, which is a nice feature to have for sweating.

The microfiber-wrapped built-in orthotic footbed features great arch support for your high arches and a deep heel cup to cradle the foot with each and every step. It has some circles to really help your foot grip to the sandal.

Is The Toe Thong Comfortable?

Vionic uses really soft flexible materials on the toe post with no stitching. So, if you do have a sensitivity between the toes, this will feel absolutely beautiful.

Vionic recommends wearing their shoes and sandals for a few hours at a time until your feet become accustomed to the incredibly beneficial arch support.

The APMA accepted Bella can give you better footing since the outsole is made of durable rubber with added traction.

There are no half sizes and if you’re a half size, just size down.

The Bella has orthotic alignment technology and a thong sandal style that is so versatile with cute feminine details. So, if you’re looking to kick off your summer in style, look no further than the Vionic Bella II.

  • The straps are a bit skinny.
  • It tends to get smelly if it gets wet.

#8 Oofos Ooahh Unisex

Paid Link

oofos ooahh sandals for high arches

The Oofos are great for

  • High arches
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Bad feet and knees
  • Joint issues
  • Achilles Tendonitis/Tendinopathy
  • Arthritis
  • Sore feet and knees after workouts.

The Oofos are specially designed sandals that are both for people who have issues with their feet like high arches and Plantar Fasciitis.

They are also great for athletes who wear them to help their feet recover when they’ve been stressed. So for the athletes, the Oofos help soothe and reinvigorate feet after those tough workouts.

The Oofos have got an easy slip-on design that’s shower and beach-ready.

These sandals are made out of Oofoam and they’re a bit deep in the forefoot to help get your foot in the position that needs to be so it can recover from stresses. Also, the sandal offers great arch support for your high arches.

The footbed offers lots of cushioning and comfort while the treaded outsole has an interesting layout designed to both support the arch and also absorb the shock you put on your feet on a daily basis. So your foot has a chance to recover whether from athletics or from injury.

The Ooahh is both supportive and cushy which is a nice feature. This sandal’s got moisture and odor-resistant material on the inside to keep those feet feeling and smelling fantastic.

It’s like a gel that responds just after you take the step and that’s the key to the material that’s in these sandals. Rather than rebounding your foot like a running shoe does, this material is meant to absorb the shock.

After you’ve been running, these are one of the most comfortable ways to let your feet recover from the stress that you’ve put them in.
We would almost say that the Oofos Ooahh makes you walk slowly as it doesn’t provide that rebound effect to the foot so your foot goes forward when it’s good and ready to the next step. That takes a lot of the pressure off and the sandal makes you walk further because your heel or arches aren’t hurting.

Around The House

The Oofos are great sandals to put on when you’re puttering around the house as they’ll help provide some support and comfort to your feet throughout the day.

  • Most people return this sandal because of its high arch, which is great for those of you who have high arches.
  • It’s squishy heaven and once on almost forgettable.
  • It’s great for those long walks on the beach.
  • It helps reduce stress on sore feet, knees and lower back and keeps you feeling fantastic.

  • The Oofoam tends to be a bit sticky in hot weather. In this case, put on some ankle socks and you’re good to go.
  • Not that fashionable (but who cares when things hurt)

For those times when your feet don’t feel that great, slip these on and your feet will definitely say Ooahh.

The Terran Ari Toe Wrap is comfortable straight out of the box thanks to the Lycra neoprene lining and a microfiber wrapped EVA footbed that provides lasting support and adds comfort next to the skin.

Merrell’s Air Cushion technology cradles your heel, absorbs impact and shock and adds stability as well.

The Outsole

If you’re mindful about slippery surfaces or if it rains a lot in your area, the M-Select Grip outsole on the bottom delivers durable slip-resistant traction and allows you to walk confidently and feel like you’re not holding your breath to jet across those slippery surfaces.
Don’t forget that Merrell started as an outdoor brand making hiking footwear but they’ve never forsaken that heritage even with these lighter styles.

The Merrell Ari Wrap comes in whole sizes. So if you do run in that half range, we do recommend that you go down a half size. But if you have two different sized feet, you need to size up.

With breathable materials and Merrell comfort, the Terran Ari Wrap is perfect for your summer activities.

If you’re not comfortable with toe post sandals, see other Terran styles here.

  • It doesn’t come in half sizes.

The Magic Of Birkenstock Footbed

The footbed is lined with suede and is made with a combination of cork and latex which provides you with fantastic support and cushioning with each and every step.

You’ve probably seen some Birkenstock sandals and noticed that the heel, the arch and the toes are kind of printed on the footbed. But out of the box, the sandal comes with a flat footbed that’s going to take a little time to mold to the unique shape of your foot until they are insanely comfortable, better than going barefoot.

The footbed is anatomically correct and is contoured to fit your foot perfectly. It also has a raised toe bar in the front to help with the gripping motion of your toes and really make sure your foot stays locked into place as you’re walking around.

Most importantly, the footbed offers pronounced arch support for your high arches making the Birkenstock one of the best sandals for high arch support. This level of support is sure to help keep Plantar Fasciitis pain at bay.

There’s a neutral heel profile and a deep heel cup that’s going to help to keep the natural padding of your foot where it belongs. It is located right underneath the heel and it’s designed to help distribute your body weight a little more evenly along the shoe.
The Arizona is also going to help align your ankles, knees, and hips – that’s fantastic for your body. This helps with better posture and circulation as well. Last but not least, the footbed has a roomy toe box for toe splay.

In short, the cork and latex footbed offers lots of comfort to help keep your feet feeling great from sunrise to sunset.

The Outsole

There’s a flexible and really durable EVA outsole that offers lightweight shock-absorbing protection and stability. The Arizona is able to do that thanks to the great dose of texture throughout the entire outsole.

The best thing to do is go to the nearest store and size these sandals in person just for your peace of mind.

However, if you’re going to order them online, definitely select one size down from the sizes they give you. Also, because the Birkenstock Arizona is a unisex sandal it’s a little wider to fit a man’s foot. It may feel large just until it molds to your foot.

N: narrow feet (go for “N” only if you have abnormally narrow or very small feet)
M: medium (“regular” width, normal to wide feet)
W: wide (only for extra wide feet)

You may want to wear Birkenstock sandals around the house for a couple of days until your feet get used to the true arch support feature.

  • It is insanely comfortable and even gets more and more comfortable as you go.
  • It offers great arch support for your high arches and most foot issues like Plantar Fasciitis and knee pain.
  • It conforms and molds to your unique foot shape.

  • It takes some time until you taste the magic of the footbed.

The best part about a gorgeous pair of Birkenstocks is that they only get better with time.

break these in and you’re going to love them pretty much for life. When your feet move to the state of this Arizona, they’re going to just simply say AHHHH.

#17 Skechers Women’s Trailway

Paid Link

The Trailway is great for:

  • High arches
  • Flat feet
  • Bunions
  • Achilles Tendonitis/Tendinopathy
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Bad knees
  • Regular to wide feet

The Skechers Reggae Trailway is rated as one of the best sandals for Plantar Fasciitis and high arches. It has a good amount of arch support especially in comparison to other comparable sandals.

Anyone with medium to high arches will appreciate the contoured footbed, and since it’s not as high as others, it may even make a good sandal for flat feet.

It has a nice deep heel cup and adjustable straps for better overall foot stability.

Footbed & Upper

The Trailway sandal is constructed with a cushioned footbed that feels quite enjoyable. You’re held in by several suede straps with soft neoprene lining for additional comfort. It also has a toe ring design that adds a bit of style.

The cushioning in the footbed is semi-rigid and has an element of softness when you step into it while the foot straps help secure you in so you can get more stability than a typical flip-flop.

On top of having a good amount of arch support, this sandal also has a decent amount of depth in the heel. You’ll definitely find yourself cradled in, unlike flip-flops where your heel is constantly lifting off the footbed.

In this Skechers, your arch and heels are always supported. It’s definitely one the most stable of all the flip-flops we’ve reviewed.

As far as the material, it’s as soft in the heel as in any other part of the footbed so the landings are comfortable and supportive.

What’s more, there’s no annoying bumps and ridges like in some flip-flops. It’s dotted as part of the design but not noticeable in the least when you step into it.

The outsole is constructed with a flexible rubber material for durability and has a unique and fun design that should also provide plenty of traction.

Again, the Skechers Reggae Trailway is one of the best sandals with arch support. It’s not only functional in that sense, but it’s also fashionably cute and goes with almost anything.

You can wear the Trailway at home, work, for travel, or any other place you need comfortable and airy footwear.

When you try it on, you’ll first notice that:

  • There are several straps that hold your foot into place, but the neoprene lining is actually quite soft and feels good against the skin.
  • The toe strap can be a bit different to get used to, but most don’t seem to have a problem with it.
  • The footbed is also soft and a bit plush creating an enjoyable experience.
  • It also fits true to size.

As far as options are concerned, the Skechers Trailway is available in women’s full and half sizes in some color variations. It also has a wide option available which is perfect for those that can’t deal with narrow shoes.

The Trailway has a cute casual look, which makes it perfect to wear with most outfits. It’s also somewhat resistant to water, but you might want to avoid the straps having prolonged exposure in order to preserve the look.

Overall, the Skechers Reggae Trailway gets great reviews online for those suffering from high arch issues and heel pain.

  • The little holes on the footbed tend to collect a bit of dirt in them over time.

#18 Vionic Men’s Wave

Paid Link

The Wave is great for:

  • High arches
  • Flat feet
  • Wide feet
  • Bunions
  • Metatarsalgia (or ball of foot pain)
  • Achilles Tendonitis/Tendinopathy
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Bad knees

The Vionic Wave Toe Post is rated as one of the best flip-flops for high arches. It has one of the best arch supports, a deep heel cup, and a durable outsole for plenty of traction on any surface.

This sandal has a simple yet classic look to it. The upper is made of woven leather with padded neoprene liner. It’s perfect for use in and around the house, running errands, and of course at the beach.

The footbed is made of EVA material.

The midsole is made of rubber-like EVA which is great for shock absorption and may help reduce stress on your feet and knees.

While the outsole is made of a thermoplastic rubber that is lightweight and great for abrasion resistance, it’s designed with a pattern that should ensure a proper grip on all indoor and most outdoor surfaces. It’s not thick, but it’s definitely a bit grippy.

Footbed  & Arch Support

The arch support in the Wave Toe Post is strong, which is typical for any Vionic product. It’s a great option for those with medium and high arches who need additional support.

For those with flat feet, you may need to break the sandal in for a few days or simply go with something a little easier on your arches.

The footbed seems a bit more slippery than other footbeds, but that could be due to the high arch that keeps you propped up higher than normal sandals. It’s worth noting but hardly noticeable.

Overall, the arch support is more than sufficient and it’s one of the main reasons that people with high arches buy Vionic sandals. The Wave has the best support available.

Heel Area

The heel cup is deeper than your standard pair of flip-flops so you’ll get additional stability just from that. You’ll likely to feel a small amount of cushioning with each step since this sandal isn’t totally rigid.

With a deep heel cup and high arch support, your feet really do stand to benefit from the extra support.

It’s also noteworthy that the heel area feels a tad wider than other flip-flops especially if you have narrow feet, but it feels quite enjoyable to have your foot sunk in so well.

The Wave Toe Post is one of the best sandals with arch support on the market. As mentioned, it’s a great all-purpose flip-flop that looks good enough to be worn with anything including jeans, but for those that need the high arch support, this is likely your best option.

When slipping into this Vionic sandal, you’ll notice that:

  • The arch is really supportive.
  • The footbed is fairly rigid with some minor cushioning throughout, notably in the heel area.
  • The strap is comfortable and the design looks classic enough to be worn with almost anything.

As far as options go, the sandal is available in full sizes only. So for those that are half sizes, you’ll want to adjust based on your typical pattern of buying full-size flip-flops.

So that’s it for this article. I hope this expansive post about the best sandals for high arches was quite helpful. Make sure you leave a comment below and share the post on your favorite social media channels.

  • It’s a bit wide and the strap feels a bit loose. I recommend you half-size up.

What Are High Arches

Feet come in all shapes and sizes, and if you’re suffering from foot pain when walking or standing, there may be something about the structure of your feet that’s setting you up for a set of problems. One of the issues you could be facing is a foot condition called pes cavus – more commonly known as high arches.

A foot specialist known as a podiatrist can diagnose this for you, but taking a look at your footprint could give you a clue that this is something you are suffering from. A high arched foot may leave a thin footprint. This is because most of the arch area is not making contact with the ground. You can test this out by wetting your feet and then standing on a concrete or stone floor to see if your footprint is very thin.
If you find that you are rarely able to find comfortable shoes, or often find shoes too shallow, this could also indicate you have high arches. Shopping problems aside, having high arches causes foot, knee, back and leg pain because your feet are not properly able to absorb shock created when your foot hits the ground. If you have high arches you may also experience nerve irritation across the top of your foot caused by shoes being too tight as a result of your high arches.

The solution? Foot orthotics can help by relieving the pressure on your heel and forefoot, but if it’s spring, summer, or fall and you want a pair of sandals, you’ll need to look for walking sandals for high arches that have a thick, flexible sole to absorb shock.

These were some of the best sandals for high arches. If you have some sandals that work wonders for your high arches, please let us know.

  1. All the sandels you recommended for high arch had strap around the back of leg, or something Around the big toe. Or straps to hold shoe on.
