When someone's arches are fallen and weak to the point they're prescribed custom orthotics, I think the best thing to do is go to your local store, get fitted, and see which one feels really comfortable. Then, you can order your shoes on Amazon (since they have a solid return policy), get your son to walk around in them and see how they fit. I hope your son could get some better-fitting shoes to spare him the pain of custom orthotics.

Thanks for all the great info. My son has been given custom orthotics for his flat feet. He over pronates too. He also has one leg half inch shorter than the other which his doctor has not addressed yet. The insoles are hard and he hates them. They gave him blisters in the arch on the 1st day. Which shoes do you recommend.

I have found that the NB928v3 has reduced the bevel of the heel to such a degree that the shoe now slaps down when walking. I have been wearing the NB928 v1 and 2 for over 10 years and am VERY disappointed with the v3. Wondering if the Brooks Walker is better in that regard. My podiatrist had recommended the NB 9 series line but has now given up on them. He recently retired and is unavailable to suggest a replacement.

They are doing great in the running shoe realm and I guess their Addition Walker won't disappoint. When you try the Brooks Addiction Walker, please tell us about your experience in them.

I am a nurse and on my feet all day. NB927/8 was the best shoe I ever wore & I replaced them faithfully every 6 months. I have very flat feet; PF; bad knees & arthritis. Shoes w/ “breaks” in the sole at the arch and low soles don’t work for me, not enough cushion. Unfortunately the v2 and v3 made design changes that made it impossible to fit them comfortably on my feet. Tried various sizes & width combinations but nothing worked. Have been searching for a replacement ever since. Will try the Brooks. Thanks for the review!!
