I think you would agree with me when I say:
A lot of companies claim their shoes offer great arch support, but once you put the shoes on, you immediately notice the arch support is absolutely ridiculous.
Yet, there are some shoes that offer great arch support that’s sure to help alleviate the pain associated with high arches or Plantar Fasciitis.
Today is your lucky day because we’re going to go in depth with 8 best sandals for high arches. But first, here’s a quick comparison of the best 4.
All Birkenstock sandals carry the Seal of Acceptance by the American Podiatric Medical Association.
First off, the Arizona is one of the best Birkenstock sandals for high arches, Plantar Fasciitis (walk around all day with absolutely zero pain), Morton’s Neuroma, flat feet, bad knees, bad hips and chronic back pain.
This sandal is built for easy living thanks to its slip-on design that’s completely adjustable with two fully functioning buckles across the top of the foot to give you a secure fit and accommodate any foot size. The straps feel fantastic to the touch and soft next to your skin.
The footbed is lined with suede and made with a combination of cork and latex which provides you with fantastic support and cushioning with each and every step. You’ve probably seen some Birkenstock sandals and noticed that the heel, the arch and the toes are kind of printed on the footbed. But out of the box, the sandal comes with a flat footbed that’s going to take a little time to mold to the unique shape of your foot until they are insanely comfortable, better than going barefoot.
The footbed is anatomically correct and is contoured to fit your foot perfectly. It also has a raised toe bar in the front to help with the gripping motion of your toes and really make sure your foot stays locked into place as you’re walking around. Most importantly, the footbed offers pronounced arch support for your high arches, which also helps keep Plantar Fasciitis pain at bay. There’s a neutral heel profile and a deep heel cup that’s going to help to keep the natural padding of your foot where it belongs which is right underneath the heel to help distribute your body weight a little more evenly along the shoe. This is also going to help align your ankles, knees and hips – that’s fantastic for your body. This helps with better posture and circulation as well. Last but not least, the footbed has a roomy toe box for toe splay.
In short, the cork and latex footbed offers lots of comfort to help keep your feet feeling great from sunrise to sunset.
There’s a flexible and really durable EVA outsole that offers lightweight shock absorbing protection and stability especially because there’s such a great dose of texture throughout the entire outsole.
The best thing to do is go to the nearest store and size these sandals in person just for your piece of mind. However, if you’re going to order them online, definitely select one size down from the sizes they give you. Also, because it’s a unisex sandal it’s a little wider to fit a man’s foot. They may feel large just until they mold to your foot.
N: narrow feet (go for “N” only if you have abnormally narrow or very small feet)
M: medium (“regular” width, normal to wide feet)
W: wide (only for extra wide feet)
You may want to wear Birkenstock sandals around the house for a couple of days until your feet get used to the true arch support feature the sandal features.
The best part about a gorgeous pair of Birkenstocks is that they only get better with time. So break these in and you’re going to love them pretty much for life. When your feet move to the state of this Arizona, they’re going to just simply say AHHHH.
The Venice H2 provides great support and cushion for high arches.
It’s also great for:
Like all Keen footwear, the Venice H2 sandal has been developed to be as comfortable and lightweight as possible to protect your feet during those warmer months walks. Having a look at the fabric used to create the Venice, you can see it has polyester webbing combined with suede detail on the ankles and the front. This sandal is really tough and sturdy. It is shaped into these open straps which will keep your foot nice and cool. The inside is lined with a soft and hydrophobic mesh lining which protects the inside of the shoe from any water
You won’t have to worry about your foot sliding around and becoming irritated thanks to the V-strap forefoot capture design which allows you to gather the shoe in to fit perfectly by adjusting the bungees. With an Aegis Microbe Shield Treated Lining, you will experience fast drying comfort that won’t irritate your skin when the sandal gets wet. To help you put the shoe on, the sandal has a sturdy loop on the front and the heel.
The Venice H2 sandal uses Keen’s metatomical EVA footbed. This has been created in such a way to support your foot in its natural shape. This sandal features a fantastic arch support while the footbed itself has been molded to cradle your foot in its natural contours to give you as much comfort as possible.
The TH3 outsole has been created using non-marking rubber and has been molded into a razor siping with a multi-directional lug pattern to give you superior grip on an array of terrain. So from water to trail, the Venice H2 keeps you on your feet so you can enjoy the great outdoors.
Coming around to the front of the shoe, there’s the patented toe protector which Keen sandals are famous for. The toe bumper will keep your toes safe from rocks, sharp objects, and particularly crustaceans.

The Oofos are specially designed sandals that are both for people who have issues with their feet like high arches and Plantar Fasciitis but they are also great for athletes to help their feet recover when they’ve been stressed. So for the athletes, the Oofos help soothe and reinvigorate feet after those tough workouts. They’ve got an easy slip-on design that’s shower and beach ready.

These sandals are made out of Oofoam and they’re a bit deep in the forefoot to help get your foot in the position that needs to be so it can recover from stresses. Also, the sandal offers great arch support for your high arches. The footbed offers lots of cushioning and comfort while the treaded outsole has an interesting layout designed to both support the arch and also absorb the shock you put on your feet on a daily basis. So your foot has a chance to recover whether from athletics or from injury. The Ooahh is both supportive and cushy which is a nice feature. This sandal’s got moisture and odor-resistant material on the inside to keep those feet feeling and smelling fantastic.
It’s like a gel that responds just after you take the step and that’s the key to the material that’s in these sandals. Rather than rebounding your foot like a running shoe does, this material is meant to absorb the shock. After you’ve been running, these are one of the most comfortable ways to let your feet recover from the stress that you’ve put them in.
We would almost say that the Oofos Ooahh makes you walk slowly as it doesn’t provide that rebound effect to the foot so your foot goes forward when it’s good and ready to the next step. That takes a lot of the pressure off and the sandal makes you walk further because your heel or arches aren’t hurting.
The Oofos is a great sandal to put on when you’re puttering around the house as it’ll help provide some support and comfort to your feet throughout the day.
For those times when your feet don’t feel that great, slip these on and your feet will definitely say Ooahh.
This is a nice lightweight summer sandal which is going to be ideal for your coastal walking as well as your holiday walking and is sure to keep up with you. It’s got a nice lightweight structure to it and nice simple kind of adjustment systems so you can get a nice and perfect fit.
Taking a look at the front section, it’s got a durable nylon webbed upper that can be completely adjusted with two hook and loop tabs for a perfect fit. It has a really easy standard loop system which interlinks nicely. You can loosen up or tighten up the straps to get a nice hold over the front part of your foot – nice, quick and easy.
On the back, you’ve got a traditional Velcro strap system together with an ankle support strap to give you added support on the back as well. This is going to hold the back part of your foot in place if you’re doing a bit of low level close to walking.
The footbed is contoured to fit your foot perfectly providing you with great arch support whereas the deep heel cup helps keep your feet steady. It’s going to be a lot more comfortable and it’s going to work with your natural arch in your foot making it a lot comfortable. Even if you’re doing long-distance hiking or walking, you know it’s going to be comfortable pretty much from the word go. The footbed is super soft and squishy too for added cushioning and it has been treated with Microban technology which makes it completely anti-microbial to help fight odor causing bacteria. There’s a Shock Pad in the heel for added cushioning.
The outsole looks very basic and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It is made with durable spider rubber that’s flexible and supportive as well. It’s got great depth to it so no matter what sort of terrain, it’s going to give you a nice grip.

The technology behind the Mojave is not visible but it’s built-in. The Mojave features a built-in biomechanical orthotic footbed that provides three different densities sitting underneath the footbed. The heel has a softer density EVA right where the heel sits, the arch area features a slightly firmer EVA, and right under where that big toe joint sits there’s again a softer EVA material. The feeling you get when you slip into these sandals is that really stable, supportive sort of feeling provided by the three different densities underneath your foot.
It’s lightweight and flexible in the forefoot. It features an elasticized toe ring and a leather upper with hook and loop adjustable straps to allow for a customized fit. The Vionic Mojave has a TPR durable rubber outsole with a wave pattern which offers fantastic traction and stability on a variety of surfaces to maintain your confident stride.
With softer sections in the heel and the forefoot for cushioning and then medium density through the arch for control, the Vionic Mojave absorbs shock to reduce stress on your foot and provides premium comfort. Last but not least, the Mohave is one of the few options than can actually accommodate custom orthotics.
At first, all Vionic sandals feel different to what your feet are accustomed to, so wear them for a few hours at a time for the first few days.
Size down if you wear a half size.
The toe post does not accommodate bigger big toes.
Earth Origins Bianca Open Toe Suede Sport Sandals
These are great sandals with good arch support. If you’re on your feet a lot during the day, or love exploring the great outdoors, having a comfortable pair of shoes to support your high arches and your active lifestyle is a priority. Investing in a pair of walking shoes for high arches that are designed for your foot’s individual requirements needn’t be confusing. As mentioned, a flexible sole is a priority. The Earth Origins Bianca Women’s Sandal has a rubber sole, a material that is best suited to absorb the impact on your feet as you walk. This should prevent future pain or damage from developing.
The Bianca sandal by Earth Brands is also designed to offer you comfort and relief if you already suffer from daily foot agonies. The stylish suede walking shoe features a hook and loop closure system that is adjustable to alleviate nerve tension caused by your high arches. It also makes it super easy to slip the walking sandal on and off so it’ll never slow you down!
Comfort levels are also boosted thanks to latex cushioning in the midsole, and impertex sock lining, which is a breathable and waterproof material, alleviating sweating and further discomfort. If you’re looking for a walking shoe for high arches, you’ll also want good grip to cut down on stumbles and slips. The Bianca walking shoe has a TPR outsole, giving you the grip you need, whatever the surface. You don’t need to skimp on style either – this Earth Origins sports sandal has a feminine, non-bulky look, with a leather upper and contrast stitching.
When you think of flip shoes, the first thing that comes to mind is probably the traditional rubber shoes you love to kick back in when the weather is warm. There’s something liberating and refreshing about wearing shoes with toe pegs, but if you have high-arched feet, you could be setting yourself up for trouble. They simply don’t offer you the support you need.
The Keen Women’s Class 5 Flip Sandal has a reinforced rubber sole to offer extra shock absorbing qualities and plenty of tread, with fabric bands and toe pegs so the flip sandal fits your foot comfortably and securely. You won’t get that “flip-flopping” sensation you get with old-school flip sandals. While these are great everyday shoes, they have a polyurethane (PU) foam midsole, which also makes them suitable as flip walking sandals, thanks to their support and shock-absorbing qualities.
The upper is also made of microfiber meaning it dries quickly and draws moisture (such as perspiration) away from the foot. Even better, they only weigh 6.4 oz, making them light sandals that won’t slow you down or bulk up your travel pack.
Scared of losing them in rapid-moving water? Don’t worry – thanks to the materials used in the Keen Women’s Sandals, they will float in water. The fabric used in the Class 5 flip walking sandals also sets them apart from other sandals for high arches. Geometric designs on the fabric gives them a classic look and feel that will look great with all your other walking gear.
Keen makes a number of other top sandals for women you can read about.
Feet come in all shapes and sizes, and if you’re suffering from foot pain when walking or standing, there may be something about the structure of your feet that’s setting you up for a set of problems. One of the issues you could be facing is a foot condition called pes cavus – more commonly known as a high arches.
A foot specialist known as a podiatrist can diagnose this for you, but taking a look at your footprint could give you a clue that this is something you are suffering from. A high arched foot may leave a thin footprint. This is because most of the arch area is not making contact with the ground. You can test this out by wetting your feet and then standing on a concrete or stone floor to see if your footprint is very thin.
If you find that you are rarely able to find comfortable shoes, or often find shoes too shallow, this could also indicate you have high arches. Shopping problems aside, having high arches causes foot, knee, back and leg pain because your feet are not properly able to absorb shock created when your foot hits the ground. If you have high arches you may also experience nerve irritation across the top of your foot caused by shoes being too tight as a result of your high arches.
The solution? Foot orthotics can help by relieving the pressure on your heel and forefoot, but if it’s spring, summer, or fall and you want a pair of sandals, you’ll need to look for walking sandals for high arches that have a thick, flexible sole to absorb shock.
Just a few years back podiatrists used to hate sandals and flip-flops for the only reason they are very harmful to the feet.
Surprisingly, a lot of podiatrists now recommend some sandals and even some flip-flops to those who suffer from Achilles Tendonitis.
Why is that?
Well, some sandals do provide relief for most foot issues like Achilles Tendonitis, Plantar Fasciitis, Metatarsalgia, etc. because they feature ample arch support, a deep heel cup, healthy contoured footbed, and stable outsoles.
Today is your lucky day! Below, we’ve reviewed 20 of the best sandals for Achilles Tendonitis. But let’s start with the best 4. Keep reading…
All Vionic footwear have received the Seal of Acceptance by the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA).
It’s really difficult to find orthopedic supportive footwear that looks stylish. And everything about Vionic turns around providing comfort and support in stylish footwear.
The Tide II, the icon of Orthaheel technology, is a pair of flip-flops, but not your traditional flip-flops because those cheap plastic, flat thong flip-flops are horrific on your feet.
The most important feature that makes all Vionic sandals stand out is because they have built-in podiatrist-designed orthopedic technology. The footbed is not only super soft to the touch and squishy, but it’s also a podiatrist-designed biomechanical orthotic footbed that provides great arch support and a deep heel cup to help support, stabilize and realign the feet to their natural position.
Orthaheel is really helpful for flat-footed people (who overpronate) because it provides the support needed for their feet and prevents them from rolling inward and putting too much pressure on the Achilles tendon, Plantar Fascia, the joints, the knees and the lower back. So it can really help alleviate common aches and pains such as Achilles Tendonitis, Plantar Fasciitis, bad knees, and even lower back pain.
The footbed features a subtle dot design and geometric patterned tread to improve traction on and underfoot which makes it perfect to grab the ground when you walk in it.
This sandal features a wonderful and flexible lightweight webbed upper with a stylish gorgeous trim and a genuine leather overlay. The upper comes with soft lining on the inside and a cushioned footbed for support. It is made with a lightweight flexible medium density EVA midsole that absorbs shock to help reduce stress while the bottom provides a durable TPR outsole with a wave pattern tread that provides traction to maintain your stride.
A lot of people hate flip-flips just because of the discomfort they get from the toe post between their toes. Unlike those sandals with a plastic toe post, the Tide’s toe post is nice, soft and flexible that as soon as you put your foot in there you’re going to have that instant feeling of comfort between the toes as well – doesn’t hurt, doesn’t wear or rub when you’re walking.
If you sit on the half size, we recommend that you size down.
What you’re getting with Vionic Tide II is a technology that’s all wrapped around great looking materials and fantastic vibrant colors as well.
The Amber is one of the best shoes for achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciitis.
The Vionic Amber comes in a variety of uppers. It’s a really nice casual sandal style that features some stone adornments. This allows this gorgeous sandal to be completely tailored to your foot. To make this look truly unique, the middle strap can be removed and you can convert the Amber into a completely different style.
The footbed is covered in a soft microfiber that is smooth to the touch while the superior built-in orthotic provides support and stability to help realign your feet to their natural position. There’s a flexible EVA midsole that absorbs shock to reduce stress on your feet, ankles and knees. Research supports Orthaheel technology’s success in reducing overpronation which is going to help alleviate associated common aches and pains.
To complete this sandal, a durable rubber outsole with pattern tread will keep you upright on a variety of different surfaces.
With refined style, sophisticated technology and incredible comfort, the Amber is sure to make it to the top of your list.

The More Tour are great sandals for ankle instability.
The Morse is such a popular sandal and one of the best Clarks shoes for Achilles Tendonitis. It’s a leather sports sandal with leather and neoprene lining which makes it super breathable and super comfortable.
What’s also great about the Morse is the three-point adjustability with one hook-and-loop closure across the top, one across the instep, and one back at the ankle. These straps truly provide a customizable and secure fit as well as an easy and off experience. This makes sure your foot is nice and secure and all the toes are fitting nicely with no flyaway pinky toe.
When you’re doing all that walking, all that travelling and sightseeing, you can easily customize the Morse Tour whether you’re swelling throughout the day, or you feel it needs tighter or looser, it’s just great to have all points of adjustability.
The contoured Ortholite memory foam footbed is amazing and is super cushiony from heel to toe which makes the sandal feel like you’re walking on pillows. The footbed has some perforations that make the sandal more breathable. It’s also moisture-wicking, anti-bacterial and anti-microbial and really feels great against your foot. The footbed is bendable so this sandal is broken in for you the second you slide your feet in.

That’s what the Clarks Morse sandal does the best – provide the comfort for all that.
It’s incredibly flexible too with an EVA midsole to absorb shock and provide a nice cushioned ride while the outsole offers lots of grip, traction, and shock absorbency.

You know when you’re packing up for a trip you ask yourself “do I want to be super comfortable or do I want to be super cute”. Sometimes it’s a compromise, but with the Carina you can be super comfortable and super cute.
Alegria started out as an orthopedic professional footwear company. If you think about those health care workers who are working 12-hour shifts, those are the ones who made Alegria so popular.
Usually with tong sandals you don’t have any adjustability. The Carina is one of the rare thong sandals that Alegria have built and designed as a thong post sandal for women who wanted that type with the adjustability on the top. It is a lot of fun thanks to the beautiful unique slip-on design. The upper is made with super soft genuine leather.
The Carina is really forgiving and has a generous amount of room in the toe box and if you do have a narrower foot, you can make that adjustment because there’s hook-and-loop where the embellishment is. You can tighten the strap up or loosen it if your foot is a little bit on the wider side or if your feet swell during the day. You can also adjust the Carina on the fly if you’re flying on an airplane.
The leathers and the colors are amazing but it’s really what’s inside and the marriage between the technology, the comfort and the colors that has made Alegrias so popular.
The footbed is a patented combination of cork, soft polyurethane and memory foam. So you’ve got comfort in the heel cup and through the arch support which is an almost an inch thick of arch support. It’s truly substantial and supportive and then through to the ball of the foot in the toes. The entire footbed conforms to your individual feet so you end up with a customized sandal.
The Carina is a great alternative for those dime store flip-flops.
If you start looking at the bottom of the Rasta only, you would think you are holding a high-end, very expensive, very high tech sports shoe like something that can cost three digits before the decimal point in the price tag. When you flip it over and look at the top, that sports shoe becomes a great sports sandal, a category that not every company does.
The Reggae Rasta is actually a comfort sandal line. Skechers have had this sandal for so long women come back for it year after year. It’s for that woman that needs an attractive supportive rubber outsole sandal that she can really go all day in.
What Skechers did with the bottom is they gave us a built-up outsole. You have the flex grooves under the forefoot and you have the traction you need to really get out there and go for long walks and do you errands.
The footbed is perforated giving you that breathability. If you’re going to be by the pool or if you’re going to be at the beach, the footbed has a nice toe guard making sure your toes aren’t going to slip over the front of the shoe.
What’s really nice with the upper is it offers the adjustability across the top of the shoe with a hook-and-loop closure.
There’s also a toe loop so you’re really secure and really tight in the shoe. What’s also great about the toe loop is it has little bit of adjustability just like a wrap dress would. So if you have a little bunion issue or your toe is a little bit larger and sometimes you feel like you really don’t fit, you can get this and gently custom adjust the toe loop. Honestly, if you don’t like toe posts you really need to try the Rasta because it’s so soft and it’s not going to cause any rubbing.
As we get into these warm months our feet are going to sweat and are going to get hot and we’ve going to slide around, but in the Rasta you’re not going to have that rubbing and those blisters, you’re going to feel full on comfort all day.
The Rasta is a fabulous sandal if you’re going to the theme park or you’re on that vacation or you’re taking your day trip, al lot of community centers have like a bust trip here or a bus trip there and you don’t want to be worried about your feet, this is the sandal to slide in.
Skechers have given women a fashion forward upper on an athletic outsole giving you the best of both worlds and that’s what Skechers does best.
The Rasta is whole sizes so those half sizes go up.
The stylish Terran is great for getting out and about or sightseeing on those summer days in the sun. It is made with a stylish plush water-resistant nubuck leather upper for easy cleaning.
The soft microfiber Remember Me Foam footbed is contoured to fit your foot perfectly and it’s lined with breathable Lycra and treated with M-Select fresh technology. Ecco makes fit and function top priorities in all of their shoes.
The Yucatan is a durable performance sandal designed to be resilient and supportive in any off-road situation. It is part of Ecco’s performance collection and it’s really versatile because you can travel in it all day or you can even go for short walks in it.
The great feature about the Yucatan is it has three adjustable Velcro straps, which means you can slide your foot in and fine-tune the fit to meet your needs.. The great feature to complement those three straps is the mesh lining that goes with them. The mesh lining just cradles your foot and makes it comfortable by reducing irritation to the outer surface of your foot.
The lightweight Direct injected PU (Polyurethane) midsole with Full-length Receptor technology provides strong support and cushioning while absorbing impact of each step. The soft added cushioning makes it much easier on impact for your foot.
The upper is a stylish combination of nubuck and oiled nubuck leathers designed to cradle your foot and offer the support you need for off-road travel.
The resilient rubber outsole is made with a sticky rubber compound great for wet and dry conditions and surfaces and even better for walking off the beaten track. It also offers exceptional grip, traction, durability and a better feel for the terrain that’s under your feet.
Treat yourself to the lightweight, breathable comfort of a Yucatan performance sandal.
Innovation and creativity collide in the fun and comfortable Uneek from Keen. They are made from just two cords, soft microfiber and a sole. The stability, comfort and durability of these sandals make them great for easy hikes, travelling, beach days and the city as well.
Usually you can only adjust sandals in a couple of places, but with the Uneek you get an all-over custom fit. The innovative Free Moving Cord construction allows the shoe to adapt to the shape of your foot for optimal comfort and support. You’ve also got a Stretch Drawcord that makes the Uneek easy to put on quickly so you can get out and about ASAP.
The open design along with the water repellent polyester inside the cord means the Uneeks dry easily and don’t soak up water. This is a great feature to have when you’re crossing creeks, you’re on a trail or going to the beach.
You’ve also got a lightweight polyurethane midsole and microfiber footbed cover for durability and comfort. The anatomically designed footbed provides arch support and works with the natural contours of your foot. With the Uneeks, Keen has eliminated a lot of the norms of shoe making to create a sandal with superior comfort and support.
The high traction rubber outsole with Razor siping on the forefoot provides excellent grip for secure footing.
The outsole, midsole and footbed work together with the upper cord construction for all-over free movement, support and security. This makes them perfect for short hikes, travels, beach days and city life.
The fantastic Siesta is probably Spenco’s best-selling style. You’re getting the normal Spenco 50-year technology embedded into the orthotics.
The Siesta features Spenco’s semi-curved, biomechanically accurate Total Support Contoured insole that is shaped to really support your foot, which is absolutely phenomenal. What happens is the second you hit the ground there’s a deep heel cup that cradles and aligns your heel.
There are three pods of different densities that actually straighten the foot out and allow it to roll into a nice medial and lateral inside and outside orthotic cradle arch. Then in the forefoot, there’s a crashpad which is a little bit lower density to allow that forefoot to move properly as you push off. Underneath the ball of the foot, they’ve added another cushion called a metatarsal dome. What this dome actually does is it spreads out the pressure across the metatarsals and provides extra support and that’s why it’s so good. This built-in dome is one of the things people with Metatarsalgia, or ball of foot pain, actually look for in an orthotic. The orthotics are removable and can be washed easily.
There are also a couple of bells and whistles people actually love more. Apart from the heel cup, there are two sections of goring that allow your feet to move. Also, the inside has a very nice soft man-made textile canvas upper which feels like butter. The forefoot is quite wide and very forgiving.
You don’t have to have a low or a high arch to wear this shoe as the way Spenco have built the platform accommodates any foot type.
Last but not least, the sandal has a durable rubber outsole that offers excellent stability on a variety of surfaces.
The Siesta is a summer shoe that’s going to take you all the way through fall and into winter if you put some socks on.
Sports sandals are pretty simple, a rubber footbed, some combination of straps and a little bit of style is all they have to work with. Since inventing the product in 1984, Teva has been a leader in developing styles that make for happy feet and easy adventures. The Terra Fi Lite has several design patterns available for men and women to express their personality. It was designed to be the lighter and sleeker cousin of Teva’s classic sports sandal. The Terra Fi was originally designed in the Grand Canyon so they’re made for water.
The Terra Fi Lite has the familiar tree straps that are easily adjusted with strong hook-and-loop. The ability to dial in the fit to your comfort and preferences is part of what makes these sandals great.
The footbed is cushy right out of the box and in time it molds to the exact imprint of your foot. The shock pad in the heel and excellent arch support are better than many other sports sandals and make these just as good for jogging back to the car as they are on the water.
The outsole features the spider original rubber with a string tread pattern that grips well on whatever combination of rocks, trails, roads, and water your adventures require.
Last but not least, the Terra Fi has got Teva’s nylon webbing and universal strapping system that people have come to trust and love over the years.
The Yampa Z2 embodies the classic anatomic design Chaco is known for and takes comfort to the next level with the lighter design.
It’s got a wide injection molded lateral buckle at the ankle that provides you with a customized and secure fit. It features a gentle hugging toe for added comfort and stay-put.
There’s Chaco’s famous PU footbed that feels and looks great and has LUVSEAT technology that’s anatomically designed to provide ample arch support and cradle your foot in lasting comfort. But don’t just take our word for it, this footbed also carries the Seal of Acceptance by the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA).
You can’t see it, but there’s a nylon shank in the midsole that offers a stable platform when you’re on the trail for example keeping you steady and upright.
All of these outstanding features sit on the top of a lightweight grippy Vibram TC1 rubber outsole with 3mm of lug depth for ultimate traction and durability.
So there you have it, a lightweight cushiony supportive doctor approved sandal for all your summer adventures and your all-day walking and errands.
All Birkenstock sandals are APMA approved (Seal of Acceptance by the American Podiatric Medical Association).

All Birkenstock sandals are APMA approved (Seal of Acceptance by the American Podiatric Medical Association).
One of the basic questions a lot of people ask is “Are Birkenstocks good for Achilles Tendonitis?”. Well, the answer is simply YES.
This Arizona style basically has been around for decades, and like anything that’s been around for decades you’ll find some controversial opinions about it. If you read reviews online, some people hate the Arizona and others are lifelong fans. The style above is Habana, which is basically the real oiled leather that’s going to feel great against your skin. They also come in different other materials according to people’s preferences.
It features two adjustable buckle straps on top to give you a snug secure fit. The inside of the straps features soft breathable lining.
It’s got an anatomically correct footbed with cork material that’s going to give you tons of support and comfort to keep your feet feeling great all day long. The footbed has a deep heel cup and very nice arch support. Because there’s no toe post, the forefoot has a very useful raised ridge that is located underneath the toes and serves to really make sure your foot stays locked into place as you’re walking around.
The midsole is thick as well and it’s going to help with shock absorption while the bottom has a thick rubber outsole that is going to provide tons of tread and stability.
It really comes down to three things. First and foremost, this product is actually made in the USA. That doesn’t sound that spectacular, but do you know that less than 2% of the shoes worn in the USA are actually built in the USA?
Secondly, Telic sandals use a blend of a resilient polymer compound called Novalon that is pillow soft, very light, waterproof, durable and elastic. Most importantly, Telic has a soft shock-absorbing rebound that makes you feel like you’re floating above the ground.
Thirdly, and probably most importantly, is the design of the sandal itself. When you first pick up a Telic, you’re going to notice that it has a traction control outsole which is important when you have a single injection molded shoe like this in order to give you some traction on wet and dry surfaces.
If you turn the Telic sideways, you’ll notice it has a rocker bottom. This acts to give you the support needed underneath the arch to really evenly distribute the weight and pressure below your foot. So when you stand on this sandal, you’ll see it bends down and then you have most of the materials underneath your arch. Also, your heel will sit back a bit and this enables you to stand up straighter and give you better posture.
The footbed itself is textured, has an orthotic great arch support, and a deep heel cup. That textured footbed allows a cooling airflow underneath the foot and actually gives you a gentle massage as you’re walking.
So the next time you’re in the market for some comfortable sandals, think of Telic. They’re American made, affordable, and one of the world’s most comfortable sandals.
Oofos might be the most fun sandals ever to wear in the history of sandals. My favorite thing about Oofos sandals is just how mushy, comfortable and wonderful they are under your feet. People with problem feet have a lot of impact absorption and great arch support that it even accommodates people with really high arches. It has a kind of thick firm arch which provides a lot of support in that area.
Oofos are known as recovery shoes that give you the best feeling when you’ve gone for a long run or a long hike and your feet are hot and sweaty and they just hurt. They’re so soft but still support your feet.
So If you are a marathoner, someone who does triathlons a lot, someone who just gets out there and pounds those 10.000 steps every single day, or if you’re someone who’s on their feet a lot or you’ve gone to a wedding and you stood way too long in those high heels, the Oofos Ooriginal thong sandal is a must-have recovery option for those feet.
A lot of people wear Oofos all the time outside the house doing errands or doing yard work while others use it inside the house to get some relief on walking around on tile or hardwood floors.
They’re easy to wash and you can just throw them in the washing machine and you’re good to go.
Countless women and men suffer from a very common foot condition called Plantar Fasciitis (often called the flip-flop disease). The Plantar Fascia is a thick band of fibrous tissue that connects the heel bone to the ball of the foot forming the arch of the foot.
Plantar Fasciitis sufferers experience sharp pain under the heel especially first thing in the morning and also after periods of inactivity, such as sitting. In short, the best sandals for Plantar Fasciitis have to offer ample support to prevent the Fascia from stretching and causing pain.
Here’s a quick comparison of the best 4.
back looking nice and fresh.
All Birkenstock sandals carry the Seal of Acceptance by the American Podiatric Medical Association.
First off, one of the questions that keeps popping out all the time is: do Birkenstock sandals help plantar fasciitis? The answer is yes. A lot of people have tried them and confirmed the sandals’ arch support helps with plantar fasciitis tremendously.
The 1774 German shoe is totally back with really cool colors and lots of features that are really making it the go-to modern sandal. It has a medial and lateral edge with an excellent arch support with the help of which a lot of customers have reported complete blessed relief of their painful Plantar Fasciitis.
The Birkenstock Arizona has the original magic Birkenstock footbed featuring pronounced arch support, a deep heel cup, a raised toe bar and a roomy toe box. The Birkenstock’s deep heel cup enables your body weight to be distributed evenly over the whole foot and ensures proper alignment providing you with optimal support. Also, the raised toe bar really lets your foot naturally grip the shoe.
The anatomically correct suede-covered footbed features cork and latex to mold to your feet’s unique shape and contours while providing ample support, relieving plantar fasciitis, and promoting a healthy walking motion. It features a lower jute layer, which is moisture wicking and an extra layer of cushion to help eliminate breaking time.
This sandal is the original Birkenstock design with two adjustable buckle straps for a snug customizable fit. Of the great features of the Birkenstock is the completely sustainable and renewable EVA outsole that provides healthy shock-free comfort. EVA is famous for being flexible, durable, lightweight, and sock resistant. The upper material comes in suede and Birko-Flor.
Apart from relieving Plantar Fasciitis, the Arizona helps alleviate knee, back and ankle pain, and helps improve posture and gait.
If you’re looking for a pair of sandals to promote healing and prevent recurrence of plantar fasciitis and bilateral plantar fasciitis, look no further.
You can’t go wrong with a good pair of Birkenstock sandals. So, if you’re walking on hardwood, concrete, road or going to festivals and concerts in summer, the Arizona is going to provide you with solid underfoot support to keep you comfortable all day long for wherever life takes you.
I recommend you start out slow! Put them on for 5 minutes and then take them off for a few hours. After that, I’m sure you’ll wear them around the clock.
To extend the life of your Birkenstocks and any cork-soled shoes, make sure you keep the cork moisturized with products like Kelly’s cork Renew (Kelly’s Cork Renew, 2.4 Oz. – Seals and Waterproofs Cork Surfaces)
The Milano is one of the best sandals you can get as it’ll help you eliminate your recurring plantar fasciitis issues. So, if you need ample arch support, these Birkenstocks are the perfect alternative to orthotics.
This sandal offers the same great features as the Birkenstock Arizona but adds a heel strap for extra security to fit it to your liking. It has a smooth upper and that classic silhouette. It has the same anatomically correct suede-covered footbed featuring a layer of cork and latex to mold to the shape of your foot. There’s a great pronounced arch support, a raised toe bar designed to match the natural gripping of your feet, and a deep heel cup to promote a healthy walking motion. The support provided by the Milano makes a remarkable difference in a short period of time.
It also features an extra layer of cushion to help eliminate breaking time and a punched lightweight EVA outsole which is flexible, durable and shock absorbing as well.
If you’re looking for a classic adjustable sandal that’s sure to stay on your foot and provide all day support, look no further. This sandal is great and fits perfectly.
I hear a lot of people say their Plantar Fasciitis has made it impossible for them to keep wearing their beloved sandals and flip-flops and walk around with no pain. In fact, that would be true without a great supportive sandal like the Oofos Ooahh. Its patented footbed design combined with the OOfoam material makes it one of the best sandals for Plantar Fasciitis and probably the best recovery footwear I’ve ever seen.
With the Oofos, you can happily take those first steps in the morning without experiencing that excruciating pain. And this by itself is a dream come true for Plantar Fasciitis sufferers.
The Oofos have amazed customers because they’re lightweight squishy heaven and provide a great amount of healthy arch support for all foot types. The arch section stays really firm and dense and makes sure your arch is comfortably supported as you step into it.
This sandal offers unparalleled cushioning through its closed-cell foam that helps recharge and rejuvenate your feet. It’s also water-resistant. The OOfoam, a material that’s proprietary to Oofos Company, absorbs about 37% more weight and force than the existing traditional foam. In other words, less impact coming up to your body.
This technology gives a lot of responsiveness to the sandal so that when you step on it, your feet sink in and feel really nice and comfortable. In short, they’re like clouds on your feet.
You can even wear the Oofos in the shower when your Plantar Fasciitis is at its peak. It does not break down offering lasting support and recovery benefits.
Known as probably the best recovery slides on the market, the Oofos are super squishy. They’re known to keep their form really well and make your feet feel great after all those miles and workouts.
Don’t forget, running is hard enough on the body and having a sandal that can actually provide relief for the athlete is what runners have been waiting for.
From all day standing to relaxing after a hard run, these sandals provide the soothing relief your feet will love. Last but not least, the Oofos Ooahh provides instant soft luxurious comfort ideal for workout recovery, joint alignment, and anti-fatigue.
The Oofos does take a little bit of time to get used to as it won’t feel like your traditional sandals.
Summer is all about walking and walking and walking. But without a supportive comfortable pair of sandals, walking becomes almost impossible, and even if one insists on walking, they pay it expensive at night or early in the morning. That excruciating pain by Plantar Fasciitis makes people think a thousand times before saying “let’s go for a stroll”.
Well, sandals like the Keen Whisper are a Godsend since they make walking in them pain-free and enjoyable while letting your feet breathe.
The classic silhouette Keen Women’s Whisper sandal is the ideal choice for the beach, kayaking, canoeing, hiking up the trail, or just walking around town thanks to its level of support and comfort. The Whisper is a feminine twist on the famous Keen Newport H2 comfort in a slightly narrower lower profile fit tailored just for women. You’ll still get the ventilation and secure fit of the Newport but in a more streamlined and slender fit.
The Whisper is comfortable and supportive that you can do errands without Plantar Fasciitis flaring up. But one thing is sure, the support offered by the Newport above is a bit better than the Whisper’s.
The Whisper is also so comfortable for sensitive feet, bad knees, hammer toes and bone spur. They’re also great for high instep and wide feet and have a springy rubber heel that provides enough cushioning to walk on aggressive terrains.
The Keen Wisper features hydrophobic lining on the inside (feels a little bit like wetsuit stuff), so it’s nice and comfortable against your skin. Also, the Whisper features polyester webbing which is super cool and has odor-reducing Aegis Microbe Shield to keep those nasty niffs away. And talking about nasty niffs, the Whisper features a Metatomical EVA footbed individually shaped for each foot providing comfort and stability even in high activity situations.
The footbed is also patented with Microban to keep those bacteria away. You’ll love these sandals because after a long day of hiking, trail walking or trudging through the mud, you could throw them right into the washing machine and they’ll come back looking nice and fresh.
There’s an EVA compression midsole, and what that means is a seriously cushioned shock-absorbing comfortable pair of sandals.
The non-marking rubber outsole provides great traction.
It has Keen’s patented toe guard to protect your feet (nothing worse than stubbing your toes) and quick draw elastic laces for easy on and easy off flexibility. They’re stylish, washable, waterproof, and water-resistant.
Whether you’re hiking, biking, rafting, or just bopping around town, the Whisper is the perfect sandal to make your active feet happy.
Size up if you’re between sizes.
Are Teva sandals good for Plantar Fasciitis? Absolutely yes. Keep on reading.
Terrific and the Tirra from Teva go together. The Tirra is designed to deliver personal support and comfort with women’s specific fit.
Nearly every wearer of the Teva Tirra swear by the amazing arch support and level of comfort it offers. You can actually walk longer miles and stay on your feet the whole day without worrying about your Plantar Fasciitis’ flare ups. Coupled with a cushioned deep heel cup, the Teva’s nice amount of support in all the right places helps realign your foot. Accordingly, the Tirra solves issues of overpronation, which is the leading cause behind Plantar Fasciitis. These are the two most important factors that keep Plantar Fasciitis pain at bay.
The Tirra seems to do a great job with heel spurs, plantar warts, arthritic knees, neuropathy, high arches, bunions, Onychoycosis (the medical term for nail fungus) – you name it.
The Tirra is that kind of super-duper comfortable sandal you put on right out of the box, stand up and immediately go Ahhhhhh… This outstanding level of comfort is guaranteed by the shock-absorbing ShockPad Technology in the heel which delivers ample shock absorption, great cushioning and an uninhibited comfortable performance. It is also nicely lined on the interior with a contoured cushion women-specific design. It’s super soft and squishy.
It looks delicate but packs a punch thanks to its grippy athletic type outsole construction. The Teva’s durable original Spider Rubber outsole with water channeling lug design offers unrelenting grip and traction in wet and dry conditions. This means that the Teva Tirra is ideal for everyday use as well as water sports and summer walks. The Tirra is substantial enough not to feel every bump as you take every step.
This sandal is supremely lightweight with a delicate strappy design. The three hook and loop straps are completely adjustable and hug the foot so there’s no slipping or flopping whatsoever. This beautiful strap design makes it possible for everybody to customize the fit exactly to their specifications. This in itself is a huge bonus as the people with a high instep or people whose feet tend to swell just have to loosen the straps a bit and they’re good to go.
A lot of sandals require a certain period of time to beak in. This is not the case with the Tirra as it’s comfortable right out of the box. All the straps are lined with what feels like neoprene, so you won’t have to worry about rubbing, blistering, chafing or arch discomfort.
This is the only sandal in this article I write a small paragraph about its fit as most other sandals either require you size up or down if you’re between sizes. The Tirra fits true to size and fits like a glove. A lot of people have trouble fitting into a lot of sandals, but the Tirra comfortably accommodates high instep, wide width and left and right different sizes.
They’re attractive enough to go with jeans and some casual slacks and skirts. It’s easy to clean even if it gets muddy, just throw it in the washing machine and it nicely comes out as beautiful as new. The Teva Tirra is indestructible and stylish.
If you’re the kind of girl who likes style, function and an indestructible sandal, the Tirra is for you.
No one in the world is going to believe that this is a Crocs you’re wearing.
If you’re looking for a good wedge summer shoe, look no further. Wedges with slight heels seem to take the weight off the tendon. The A-Leigh is quick pain free solution for Plantar Fasciitis sufferers.
If you’re planning to go walking for long periods of time without discomfort, the Crocs a-Leigh has the right arch support and the right heel height to help you get through the day. The straps sit up higher on the foot, which adds to the support and comfort.
These sandals have beautiful premium leather straps with a textile lining underneath making it soft and comfortable against your skin and feature a little bit of goring at the side to move with you with every step.
The footbed is very lightweight and comfortable and it is made of Croslite material so you get a fit that forms to your foot and comfort you’ll really only get with Crocs. With squish throughout the footbed, the A-Leigh provides you with comfort for all day. Just like nearly every Crocs’ style, the A-Leigh Mini Wedge has little nubs along the footbed. It has a platform in the front to take some pressure off of your heel.
It’s super flexible as well. It has a cork-wrapped midsole for great shock absorption and lightness, which is really going to boost you out. The cork wrapping adds to that richer look. There’s also a ton of stability and support built into a beautifully textured outsole to keep you on your feet all day long.
The Crocs A-Leigh is cute and can be worn with jeans for a casual look, and with a maxi dress/skirt for a dressier look.
The cushiness of the heel with the wedge style and arch support work together when you have flare ups or just want comfort.
Note: the “W” means only Women and not Wide!
All Birkenstock sandals carry the Seal of Acceptance by the American Podiatric Medical Association.

What a relief to walk again pain free
A lot of people totally give up their cute sandals and flip-flops because their Plantar Fasciitis and heel spurs have made walking in them a painful experience. Well, those days are long gone. After wearing the Birkenstock Mayari, sufferers have confirmed the sandal helped keep their Plantar Fasciitis at bay. Another wearer said her chiropractor recommended Birkenstock sandals for her Plantar Fasciitis and metatarsal stress syndrome (broken metatarsal). Others confirmed the Mayari helped them relieve knee pain, hip pain and back pain
Forget the image you get when you hear “Birkenstock.”. Now they’re quite as fashionable as any other sandal. The Mayari provides the versatility you need in your footwear and is girly, cute and stylish enough to wear with anything.
Make your feet feel happy and amazing once again with the Mayari. It features anatomically correct molded cork and latex footbed for extra comfort and a deep heel for extra stability. The footbed features a raised toe bar to help encourage the natural gripping motion of your feet. The deep heel cup helps support the padding of your foot and distribute your body weight more evenly. The footbed is suede-lined to assist with breathability and it’ll eventually break in and mold to tour foot giving you support made just for you. The mixture of the awesome firm arch support and the deep heel cup does wonders for Plantar Fasciitis sufferers.
After the short break in period, the sandal molds to your feet’s unique shape and becomes even more comfortable. The Mayari is a more updated and more feminine Birkenstock sandal with two crisscross straps at the toe and two adjustable buckles across the foot so you can find the perfect fit. It is more comfortable than most sandals with a toe thong because its toe strap is soft and comfortable and wraps around the side of your toe rather than in between your toes.
In short, the Mayari is so comfortable that your feet won’t hurt at the end of the day.
The outsole is made of EVA which provides you with a cushioned walk while being flexible, shock absorbing and lightweight that you would forget they’re on.
The Mayari tends to run a little bit big, so if you’re between sizes I do recommend trying the next size down.
If you’ve neglected to wear proper supportive footwear over the years and if it’s a daunting task for you to find stylish sandals able to support your arches, the Birkenstock Mayari does the trick.
Keep on walking in style as Finn Comfort has proved that not all comfortable orthotic sandals have to be ugly.
First off, Finn Comfort is a German line and every model they make is hand-stitched and lasts for years!
The Germans are very good engineers and very conscious about foot healthcare. All the Finns have a removable and replaceable footbed. It’s a cork and latex footbed that has very good longitudinal arch support. The footbed also features a bed of metatarsal support.
The cork and latex is a good pliable material that is heat activated, which means as you wear the shoe, your foot actually forms into the footbed. What is also great about the Finn Comfort is once the footbed wears out (after a long time) you can replace it.
If there was such a thing as the perfect foot, the Finn Comfort footbed has that shape. They help instantly relieve the pain caused by Plantar Fasciitis and Metatarsalgia, which is pain in the balls of the feet.
The footbed can easily be removed to accommodate custom orthotics, which is a great value, but many customers confirm they do not actually need to wear orthotics as the Finn Comfort footbed is far enough. The footbed has medial arch support and a metatarsal pad, which I believe is the key to the Finn Comfort’s success.

The Alegria’s footbed is a patented combination of cork, soft polyurethane and memory foam. What that means is that you’ve got comfort from heel all the way through the arch support, all the way down through the ball of your foot and through the toes. And what’s so special about this is that within a short period of time of wearing the Algeria, it actually conforms to the bottom of your foot, so even though two wearers are size 7 (37 in Alegria) the footbed would be and look different because one might have a higher arch, a higher instep or a wider foot, and both will get a customized fit with the Alegria.
The covering is a natural soft sueded leather so it does absorb any mild perspiration, which is inevitable in the summer. There’s no slipping or sliding and the rocker bottom is solid.
The Alegria is a one and half inch outsole that slightly tapers down in the front, but it doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a heel whatsoever. The arch support and the cushioning for the heel are amazing for someone standing for ten hours a day, six days a week.

The thick outsole adds to the support and protection by taking the pressure off of each step and protecting you from the elements a bit.

A lot of people sadly replace their beloved sandals with tennis shoes for Plantar Sasciitis to walk a lot again. These days are long gone as sandals like the Patricia have finally closed this case.
The Crocs Patricia is like walking on marshmallows or like putting on glasses to correct faulty vision. Being this fashionable, a lot of people can’t believe the Patricia is a Crocs. Crocs have made new stylish models and the good-looking Patricia is one of many.
The Crocs Patricia is a great option for Plantar Fasciitis as it’s wonderfully comfortable and has enough arch support your feet need to be able to walk without pain. The Patricia helps keep the heel in a proper position thanks to its progressive heel incline, and this helps a lot to combat Plantar Fasciitis.
The Patricia is extremely comfortable and makes walking all day enjoyable rather than painful. They’re comfortable as house slippers that you can slip on easily right out of bed and comfortable enough on streets, beaches, zoos and the like. This comfort is due to the comfortable shock-absorbing soles and the extra cushion added in each step.
Thanks to the Patricia has helped people minimize their leg and back problems.
It’s very light and the Croslite foam footbed with tiny nubs provides a lot of cushion and comfort. It does have a very contoured design and it’s padded too for extra cushioning.
The strap pivots for a more comfortable fit. There’s a slight 2-inch heel for a just right amount of lift.
Croslite is a wonderful material that has been in Crocs sandals from the very beginning. It’s a proprietary closed-cell resin, but it has very unique properties. Croslite material is very, very good at leveling the loads across the bottom of your foot. It’s also very good at absorbing shock.
Crocs have the US Ergonomic Certifications for a lot of their shoes including the Patricia.
The certifications from US Ergo show how effectively Crocs shoes spread the load out as the person stands and walks. Load leveling is the ability of a material to take the high pressure points away from your foot and spread them out over a broader area.
One of the things that make the Croslite material unique is its ability to perform both as open-cell and closed-cell foam. The magic of Croslite material is that it has the characteristic of being soft, light, durable and hygienic (not absorbing water).
Every time your heel hits the ground, you have the shock that goes up through your skeletal system, that’s why walking and standing causes your heel, knee and back to hurt.

Spenco is known for producing excellent flip-flops for Plantar Fasciitis and the Dayku is actually the only model I find suitable to help relieve the pain. It is very comfortable and its arch support helps keep Plantar Fasciitis from flaring up.

The Keen Newport H2 is selling like hotcakes. With this sandal on, your years of Plantar Fasciitis nightmare have come to an end thanks to its ample arch support and extreme comfort. After walking in it the whole day, people have no heel pain and no soreness. The Newport is also a great option for Morton’s Neuroma, bad knees, and back pain.
This is the sandal that Keen is most famous for. It has the reputation of an incredibly versatile and durable sandal and that reputation is well deserved. The Newport is designed for a variety of terrains and outdoor activities and provides you with good support and grip. It is available in women’s, men’s and children’s sizing so you can outfit your entire family for an outdoor adventure rain or shine. Speaking of rain, the Newport has tons of features designed to deal with wet conditions and really shines in wet and muddy terrains.
The long lasting midsole provides excellent shock absorbency and the outsole is made from non-marking rubber with a multi-directional tread to specifically improve grip and traction in wet conditions. The tread of the sandal is molded into razor siping, which will aid the traction of the sole on wet surfaces. You can take them on really aggressive hikes and not have any problems as they stick really well. You don’t want to go backpacking in them, but for day hikes you really can’t go wrong with it.
The inner footbed has a soft cushioning for the foot and a metatarsal arch support to keep your foot in a neutral position.
The upper fabric is polyester webbing which is machine washable whilst the lining is a hydrophobic mesh. It has been treated in water-resistant material meaning it won’t suck up water and will dry quickly. Even though the upper looks like an individual strap, it’s actually backed by seamless mesh lining. Not only does this provide a better fit, it also keeps the sandal from pinching your skin.
On top of this, there is an adjustable elasticated bungee lacing system that is very secure and comfortable making the Newport super easy to take on and off. You can pull up and zip on the pull cord down and it tightens up around the ankle and keeps it a little more secure so you’re less likely to roll your ankle and injure yourself if you’re hiking. It’s going to hug your feet and fit you nicely giving you a nice fit.
It features the recognizable Keen toe protection with the rubber wrapping all over the toe box to seal and protect the toe. While it is still flexible and light, the toe cap will keep you from stubbing your toes on routes and rocks.
Once you get the Newport nice and ready, it’s super simple to wash as all you have to do is throw them in the washing machine with a little detergent and then air dry them.
These come in a ton of great colors and I think they run a bit small, so you want to consider sizing up.
What really makes the Newport stand out from other similar sandals is the design and quality of the sandal. The Keen Newport H2 is a robust sandal with a fantastic fit, great support, and superior traction.
What I find funny about it is everybody wears it for a specific need:
All Chaco sandals carry the Seal of Acceptance by the American Podiatric Medical Association.
Chaco ZX/2 Yampa sandal embodies the classic anatomic design Chaco is known for. It takes comfort to the next level with dual straps and a lighter design.
It has fantastic firm and extremely comfortable arch support that is able to accommodate very high arches to keep your feet from getting fatigued and achey. A wearer said she spent the whole day at Sea World in the Chaco Yampa and her Plantar Fasciitis didn’t bother her a bit!
The footbed is contoured and comfortably envelopes the base of the foot making the Yampa more supportive than most other sandals of its category.
The Chaco Yampa features the ADDSTRIDE technology, which means that the adjustable pull-through straps are all connected and are actually woven through the midsole so that when you tug on them you can get a completely customizable fit throughout the entire shoe no matter what your foot size is. This provides you with a fully customized and secure fit and a gentle hugging toe loop for added support. There’s also a slide buckle for easier on/off as well.
Then there’s the Chaco LUVSEAT footbed which is anatomically designed to provide ample arch support and cradle your foot in lasting comfort. The footbed has a nice webbing design that is slip resistant, which makes the sandal great for any kind of water activity like rafting, tubing, and kayaking. It’s also good for just general around town, walking, climbing over boulders, and searching through tide pools. It’s easy to take off with each of your heels if you have your hands full.
What makes them even better is they do have a really nice non-marking lightweight grippy Yampa Vibram rubber outsole for superior traction and durability. The Vibram rubber is made of 25% recycled materials while being flexible yet supportive.
It also features a rigid nylon shank in the midsole that offers a stable platform when you’re on bumpy terrain keeping you steady and upright even on uneven surfaces.
Yampa is completely made of vegan-friendly materials and completely machine washable, so just throw it in your washing machine and you’re good to go.
It comes in a lot of colors and sizes. It’s a little less “luggy” than the Unaweep, so it’s quite a bit lighter and not as chunky as the old Chaco.
You have to bear in mind you’re supposed to do a vinegar soak with the straps and move them around to keep them nice and clean, otherwise, they’ll get challenging to move over time.
The first time you get a pair of Chaco, you definitely going to want to follow the instructions on how to adjust the straps to your foot’s natural anatomy. And after you wear them a couple of times you’ll be able to fit them as loose or as tight in all the different areas of the shoe that you want to.
When your summer bucket list has you at the shore on a hike and camping out, the Z2 Unaweep sandal is ready for duty. You can absolutely wear it everywhere doing anything like swimming, hiking, going in and out of streams and wet watery places, hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, trail running or just walking around town.
You’ll certainly love the amazing arch and heel support the Unaweep provides to fix your pronation and Plantar Fasciitis issues. Contrary to other sandals in its category, the Chaco Unaweep provides a lot of lateral stability when walking or even rock-hopping with almost zero foot fatigue, even after a full day of adventuring.
To take the support and stability to the next level, the Unaweep features a genius gentle hugging wrap-around toe loop that provides extra security when most needed. The toe loop is smooth and won’t chafe or irritate your skin. But don’t be scared of it, it is easy to adjust and adds some much needed support for hiking and uneven terrain. However, if you don’t need or don’t tolerate the toe loop, go for the Chaco Unaweep Z 1 instead.
The Z/2 Unaweep features quick and easy to fit straps that provide you with a fully customized and secure fit, ultimately providing an incredibly stable feeling sandal that moves perfectly with your foot. It is one of the easiest models to wear as it comes with only one single cinch to tighten or loosen getting in and out.
Then there’s the Chaco’s superb supporting LUVSEAT footbed which is anatomically designed and sculpted to provide ample arch support and cradle your foot in lasting comfort.
The comfort provided by the Unaweep is great once it is adjusted right, and broken in a bit.
Underneath all of that is the Vibram TC1 rubber outsole with 4.5 mm lugs for great durable traction when you’re off to beaten path (hiking or under the rain). The sole is super durable, thick and solid, and water friendly. It’s sufficiently thick, with a decent heft and incredible support. The outsole is indestructible and tough as nails even if you’re skidding around on concrete all day – truly trail grade. The Unaweep is so durable that so many wearers said it lived with them for more than 10 years with LOTS of abuse!
Your feet will certainly need some time to get used to the sandal’s textures, so give them some time of breaking before you start wearing them all day long. Luckily, the breaking period is short with no issues or blisters.
If you’re looking for a lightweight and non-intrusive sandal that looks as good as it performs then search no more.

I think this is more than enough, but if you or someone you know have tried certain sandals and think they helped with Plantar Fasciitis, please let us know in the comment are below this article. We’ll make sure to include your recommendations in the list above.
All the man-made surfaces at home put our feet into the incorrect position. This has to do with excess of pronation, where your arch collapses. As you can see in the picture below, the horizontal line on the arch is completely a flat line, but if you just realign the foot back to the natural position, you can see there’s a nice arch to it. So, if you’re feeling any kind of aches and pain in the foot, ankle, knee or even lower back area, it could be due to the fact you’re excessively pronating. What’s more, when your arch collapses, your feet roll inward about half an inch.
Sandals and flip-flops are the staple of summer. But while they might feel a bit comfortable on a daily basis, the long-term effects can cause serious injury and pain.[Tweet theme=”tweet-box-shadow”]In fact, many experts say unsupportive sandals and flip-flops are the most dangerous shoes out there[/Tweet]
It all comes down to support. When you have no support under your foot and you’re walking on hard surfaces or you’re going to activity and amusement parks, you just keep pulling on that ligament in the bottom of the foot all day long. This causes a lot of issues in that respect.
Besides critical problems in the arch and heel including Plantar Fasciitis, wearing unsupportive sandals and flip-flops can also cause “bony problems”. If you have long-term arch or heel pain, then that can actually cause bone spurs, adding more to pain. Because you’re not getting the support your foot needs, your ankles tend to roll and that can also causes ankle pain.
Believe it or not, wearing unsupportive footwear actually makes you walk differently. This is called the “flip-flop shuffle”. What happens is that we’re forced to take a shorter stride, which means a shorter gait. And when we do that, our toes crunch up very tightly to hold that flip-flop on. Again, we take shorter strides causing more knee and hip and ultimately back pain. Moreover, with those toes crunched all the time, you can get shortening of the tendons causing hammer toes in the long term.
Look for supportive sandals and flip-flops that offer enough arch support and preferably a heel cup to help control motion of the heel. That’s the main thing. And remember, if you develop unexpected pain somewhere else in your body, always consider your shoe gear first.
Most sandals for Plantar Fasciitis are a bit expensive, yes, but being Plantar Fasciitis pain free is priceless! Here’s a list of 33 best sandals for Plantar Fasciitis. We did our best to include the most positively reviewed sandals that users have found to be efficient in regards to their Plantar Fasciitis.
There are several reasons why the Plantar Fascia becomes painful and inflamed. These include being overweight, overuse, injury or unsupported footwear. However, the most common cause is overpronation, the inward rolling of the foot and lowering of the arches. When the arch lowers, the Plantar Fascia ligament under the foot becomes overly stretched. In turn, this leads to small tears or micro-tearing of the ligaments resulting in inflammation. Accordingly, people feel pain under the heel and in some cases under the arch of the foot.
Over time, a bony growth may develop at the front of the heel bone; this is called a heel spur. Nevertheless, heel spurs themselves are not the cause of heel pain; it is the inflamed tissue around the heel spur that causes pain and discomfort.[Tweet theme=”basic-full”]A number of factors contribute to plantar fasciitis. While men can get plantar fasciitis, it is more common in women.[/Tweet]
There are different ways of treating Plantar Fasciitis such as cooling the area with a nice pack or even rolling a can, a tennis ball, or a bottle under the foot. Your GP may suggest a Cortisone Steroid Injection into the heel to target the inflammation.
Research suggests that in many cases Plantar Fasciitis can be treated biomechanically with orthotic insoles and exercises. Orthotics were developed to support and stabilize the foot. Lifting the arch and realigning the foot to its natural position will greatly reduce the tension on the Plantar Fascia ligament thereby treating the cause of this condition.
Moreover, Orthotics provide a natural and effective way to reduce pain and inflammation in the heel. When combined with some daily exercises such as calf stretches, the tension on the Plantar Fascia lessens even more resulting in a quicker recovery.
Everyone has an arch along the inner side of their foot, creating a space between their foot and the floor. Some people have a larger space between their foot and the floor, a condition called high arches or pes cavus. Due to the bone structure of the foot, people with high arches place a larger percentage of their weight on the ball and heel of the foot when standing because the foot acts something like a tripod without the arch supported. Pes cavus can lead to a range of symptoms, including pain and instability, which may increase with duration of walking or standing. Issues from high arches may develop at any age, in one foot or both.
Symptoms of high arches vary dramatically depending on activity level and severity of the condition. Many people have no pain or other symptoms. Often, people with high arches present with:
hammertoes (bent toes) or claw toes (clenched toes)
calluses on the ball, side or heel of the foot
pain in the arch (plantar fasciitis) or other part of the foot
instability in the ankle, possibly resulting in ankle sprains
Shoes with inadequate arch support seem to exacerbate plantar fasciitis or other problems with high arches due to overpronation (inward rolling of the ankle).
For immediate relief of arch pain, massage and ice work wonders. A bag of frozen vegetables or a cold can of soda applied to the arch of your foot can provide quick relief from arch pain. Roll it around and you have an instant cold massage. Feels fantastic! Stretching and strengthening of the foot muscles can also play an important role in the treatment of pain due to high arches. Consult your doctor for information pertaining to your specific case.
Ongoing, you’ve got to find some shoes with adequate arch support to relieve your foot pain and realign your foot to a neutral position or the arch pain will persist. You only get this one pair of feet, right? And no one wants to be hobbling around when they get older. Your doctor may prescribe orthotics for you to wear in your closed toe shoes, but this solution leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to summer sandals. You simply cannot put your orthotics into sandals and expect them to stay in place and do their job. Plus, you’ll look like a kook with orthotics sticking out of your sandals. There are not a lot of sandals with arch support available, and frankly, most of the ones we do have to choose from are really unattractive.
Hi, my name is Donna and I have issues. With my feet. I have always had pretty narrow feet, making it somewhat difficult to find shoes that fit well, but usually I can go into any shoe store and find something workable. It may take adding pads to the foot bed or sticking heel pads into the back of the shoe to make the shoe fit me properly, but I figured this was just something I would have to do to wear stylish shoes.
But, after years of aerobics, running, walking and two pregnancies, my feet started to change. First of all, they grew about a half size during pregnancy, which is what I didn’t really need. My feet already looked like skis, any additional length was definitely not welcome. So. In addition to the increase in shoe size, my arches began to feel tender after a series of particularly high-impact aerobics classes. My gym calls the class Body Attack, and let’s just say that’s what it felt like… my feet were being attacked. Pain. Oh, the pain. I bought new shoes, thinking the padding in my old shoes was too broken down, but those new, squishy shoes didn’t help at all, even though I cut back on my Body Attack class to once a week. The pain persisted.
My only option was to seek the advice of a podiatrist because as long as I rested my feet, they felt fine, but as soon as I started back to any activity, whether it was running, walking or aerobics, the pain returned. I like to lounge around like anyone else, but to lead a life without activity wasn’t going to work for me. I have kids! Plus, my heart wouldn’t really care for all that laying around business. Of course, my doctor prescribed orthotics for me, took a mold of my foot, ordered them and I was told to rest my feet until the orthotics arrived. And I did. I rested like a pro. Other than walking.
The orthotics felt like a rock in my shoe at first, but in time, I got used to the extra arch support – support my feet needed to be healthy and pain-free. So funny, because my previous idea of orthotics was something I would need in about 30 years. Not the case. I’m officially old before my time. In fact, many of my friends have them as well, and we’re not close to being elderly. So, I wore these orthotics in my tennis shoes for months, and my feet remained pain-free. Then came the hot weather. Everyone else was wearing adorable sandals and simple flip flops. I wanted to flip around too! So, I kicked the orthotics-filled tennis shoes to the curb and slapped on my flip flops. “Woo hoo, look at me. I don’t need my orthotics anymore,” I thought. Ha! The day after I wore the flip flops my feet hurt so bad I could barely walk. I’ve been on the hunt for regular-looking shoes with arch support since then. And, there are some good options out there. And also, some really ugly ones.
I have tried numerous sandals to keep my feet healthy, and I will tell you it’s very difficult to find stylish sandals with adequate arch support. I have spent hundreds of dollars, literally, purchasing and trying out comfortable sandals that don’t make me look like I’m ready for a retirement home. My podiatrist recommended I never wear flip flops again, due to the lack of arch support, but honestly, I live in a hot, humid climate and I love to just slip my shoes on and run out the door. But, I also realize that it’s important for me to be able to walk later on in life. What if my kids don’t want to push me around in a wheelchair? I don’t want to be stuck in a corner and forgotten. So, I’ve scoured everywhere looking for a sandal that will keep my feet healthy without compromising style. Here’s what I’ve found, I hope it helps you find a sandal you love and will love you back.
I’m sad to say that my first encounter with Birkenstock came in the form of an ancient pair of scuffed-up, dog-chewed sandals that an old boyfriend insisted on wearing. Despite my pleas my sweetheart would wear thesesandals everywhere, cheerfully bragging of their 17-year lifespan. Don’t get me wrong, the boy was a good dresser and I liked the simple style of the two straps and cork base (much nicer for a grown man than cheap rubber thongs), but like many 17-year-olds the old sandals looked pretty rough. Ipleaded, bargained and begged but the old sandals stayed put.
Of course this was years before we all got eco-conscious and had mortgages to worry about. When I think about those sandals today I realise that the boy was onto something. Heaven (and hygiene) forbid, I’m not saying that we should all wear the same pair of shoes everyday for several decades at a time, but isn’t it about time we start demanding a couple of year’s wear out of our footwear?
A while back I swore that if I was going to pay the one-hundred-dollars-plus that a store asks for a pair of sandals, then I want to know that they are going to see me through more than one summer. Surely this is not an unreasonabledemand. Yet I’ve searched at my local mall and have found nothing but flimsy soles, manmade linings and a complete lack of arch support. And so, I took the plunge and have finally joined the Birkenstock fan club.
Not only are my Birkenstock thongs unbelievably comfortable, they arebuilt to last (and last, and last). Their soles are lightweight, flexible and incredibly durable, their leather uppers are thick and soft. Plus, the style is a classic design so no matter how long I wear them I’ll never be caught in last season’s shoe.
As part of the company’s commitment to the environment many Birkenstock stores (including online retailer Birkenstock by Nature) now offer an affordable repair service. You simply hand in your old shoes and Birkenstock’s shoemakers will replace your heels, soles, buckles, lining orcork with the same products that they were originally made with. They can even upsize your children’s sandals – a great idea for growing feet!
So, for a fraction of the original price I can get my thongs fixed with exactly the same materials that they were originally made with. This means that I can keep them looking good and they’ll offer the same orthopedic benefits that they did on the day I bought them. I’m starting to think that my Birkenstocks just might be worth hanging onto for another 17 years…
Many of us find that squeezing in the recommended dose of daily exercise is a real challenge, but the trick to toned legs is as simple as making sure that every move you make counts. It’s a step that starts with choosing a Birkenstock style that suits your lifestyle.
Humans are designed to hunt — not type — and for this reason many of us find that spending all day at the desk can leave us feeling lethargic and our muscles less toned than we’d like them to be. Office workers need to be able to make the most out of every step they take so that every minute away from the desk is a minute spent promoting healthy circulation and toning muscle. This is as easy as choosing a Birkenstock stylethat suits your lifestyle. By wearing the circulation-boosting Madrid sandal every stairwell, bathroom break and coffee run is an opportunity to create beautifully toned calves.
It’s true that Birkenstock isn’t the only shoe on the market that promises lean legs with little effort, but what makes Birkenstock different is that the Madrid (known in Europe as the Fitness Sandal) is based on an orthopaedic design that has been more than 100 years in the making. Today’s incarnation provides perfect arch support and an even distribution of body weight, plus a deep heel cup to guide the movement of the foot. But the real genius of the company’s patented footbed isthe elevated toe gripper, a feature that is really put to work in this Birkenstock style.
Did you know that your toe muscles are actually located in your calves? Just try picking up a stick with your toes and you’ll feel exactly where those muscles are. When wearing a Madrid the weight of your body is transferred onto the ball of your foot and from here the toe gripper encourages the foot to make a strong gripping motion. This tenses the calf muscles before allowing the foot to completely relax into a comfortable and safe posture. Repeat this movement until you get to the nearest bus stop and you’ll really start to feel those calf muscles working.
With its single-strap design the Madrid is a deceptively simple-looking sandal and a far cry from the clunky orthopedic footwear of years gone by. A good Birkenstock shoes retailer such as Birkenstock By Nature’s online store will introduce a new range of colors with every season, so there’s always a couple of pretty pastels or quirky patterns that are light enough to work with summer frocks or skirts. Or you could also try a patent or metallic finish for a sandal that can be popped into your handbag and exchanged for heels at the end of a hard day in the office.
Since the company’s conception in 2003, Keen footwear has cemented themself as a frontrunner in walking sandals. From the original idea that there should be footwear on the market that guarantees toe protection, they have built a company that is known for their innovation as much as their philanthropy.
Keen footwear is dedicated to making a difference, so they follow the ethos of ‘improve the world that improves you’. When buying a pair of Keen sandals you can trust that you are not only purchasing a pair of quality shoes, you are also making a positive difference in the world.
Let’s take an in-depth look at two of the 2 best keen sandals for men.
The Keen Men’s Clearwater CNX Sandal is a lightweight comfortable walking sandal. It has a low profile and is considerably thinner than other sandals in the Keen range.
The outer fabric on the Keen Clearwater CNX is a polyester webbing, which is machine washable. The inner lining is a hydrophobic mesh, which does its utmost to repel water.
The Keen Clearwater CNX has a two millimeter bungee and toggle lacing system on the shoe. This allows the shoe to be tightened to a comfortable fit for your particular foot size and shape, thus providing adequate support around the base of the foot and the ankle.
There are two finger tabs, one on the tongue of the shoe and one at the top of the heel. These finger tabs allow for quick and easy putting on of the walking sandal. The tabs are made of a 3M reflective material which gives off a light when being worn in poor light conditions.
The contoured midsole is designed with comfort in mind. The low profile outer sole of the shoe is only four millimeters thick, which gives the wearer the sensation and comfort of walking barefoot with the protection of a Keen sandal. It has a cushioned heel cradle, and a metatarsal arch hugging the bottom of the foot.
This cradle and arch position the foot into the ideal position for an even spread of weight and shock distribution. By doing so, no one muscle or joint is taking the brunt of your body weight which can lead to injury. It also means that you can wear these shoes for hours without getting tired feet and ankles, which allows you to enjoy the great outdoors for longer.
In the sole, Keen have used a super lightweight PU compound promoting a longer shoe life than many other walking sandals on the market. It is made from non-marking rubber and has a multi-directional tred for flexibility. As with many of Keen’s walking sandals, they are designed to be worn both in and out of the water.
The sole is moulded into a razor siping which ensures that no matter the terrain, your feet will stay firmly on the ground. Being completely non-slip, they are the ideal choice for sailors and other water spots lovers such as kayakers and river rafters. Find out more about the Clearwater CNX in our full review.
The Keen Newport hiking sandal is another great option. It too has a cushioning in the footbed combined with the ergonomic arch in the mid foot to provide maximum comfort and support.
As well as having a comfortable midsole, it also provides great shock absorption meaning that the wearer can hike, run and jump without fear of putting excessive stress on any singular muscle or joint. These walking sandals are designed with length of use in mind. So, even after a full days hike, your feet will be protected and supported.
The Newport has a metatomical footbed which conforms to the shape of your foot, providing enhanced fit and comfort. The mulitdierctiional lug pattern on the rubber outer sole of the sndal allows for superior traction in all conditions.
The Keen Newport features a handy pullcord that can be zipped closed to provide maximum ankle support, which is something that many sandals fail to provide. The Newport also has a rubberized protective toebed which prevents stubbed toes. The Newport is a durable sandal that will give you reliable foot support, comfort and safety both in and out of the water, and over all sorts of terrain.
Outdoor pursuits can leave the adventurer hot and bothered. There is nothing worse than a shoe that smells after a long day’s hike. Both the Keen Newport and the Clearwater CNX are treated with an AEGIS microbe shield treated lining.
This lining repels bacteria and fungus meaning that it will not make a home in your shoe or in between your toes. So no matter how rugged your journey becomes you can confident it won’t be noticeable by the smell of your shoe. If they do get dirty, they are machine washable, which results in them looking like new after a wash.
Keen footwear is known for manufacturing waterproof shoes. Each pair of Keen shoes are tested and guaranteed waterproof before it leaves the factory. Both the Clearwater and the Newport have fast drying straps that are backed with neoprene, meaning that they will go from wet to dry in no time at all.
As with all Keen footwear, both these hiking sandals feature the rubber protective toe box. There will be no fear of stubbing delicate toes in either of these hiking sandals.
Keen footwear has a great fit, is made to last and gives optimum performance no matter what the adventure. If you want a hiking sandal that is good for dry rugged terrain, something that will hold up in wet conditions or something that combines both, Keen footwear will provide the quality sandals for your needs.
What’s the most important thing when it comes to maintaining the correct walking technique? That’s
right; wearing proper walking sandals.
Choosing the best sandals for walking seems like a basic concept, which is probably the reason why many people overlook this simple, yet important step. As a result, they choose sandals or shoes that don’t provide the necessary support for their heels and arches.
It’s hard to talk about outdoor sandals without mentioning KEEN, the company that designs footwear that enables their customers to go anyplace without a ceiling. At KEEN, they believe that outdoors is any place without a ceiling; from beaches to city streets to mountains.
Wherever you want to go, KEEN Bali Sandal for Women will take you there.
Let’s think of sandals as tools. If choosing the wrong tools, you will make yourself more prone to injuries. Luckily, with these and other KEEN sandals for women, you can be sure that your feet will be comfortable wherever you go.
These sandals have proven to be among the best and most popular outdoor sandals for women. They offer a stylish design and a range of amazing features. The combination of style, comfort and support is what makes this KEEN Bali sandal incredible. This comfort design allows for a comfortable adjustable fit regardless of the foot shape. These KEEN womens sandals have a great arch support and you can walk around wearing them all day. With a great customer rating, it’s no wonder why customers say they basically live in this KEEN model.
In terms of walking sandals for women, the KEEN womens sandals are extremely light sandals (5.8 ounces) with an open slide design. Following are some of the key features:
The lining is hydrophobic mesh, the upper is polyester webbing, and the rubber is non-marking. They are very comfortable and are the perfect sandal for people who have suffered surgeries on their feet.
They also come in a wide variety of colors, which means you can have any color for whatever you are wearing. You can order the KEEN sandals for women in baltic/neutral grey, hot colar/neutral grey, magnet/neutral gray, maize/neutral grey, and lime/neutral gray.
The KEEN women’s sandal is a great combination of style and comfort. The outsole is constructed of a high-quality durable material that increases protection and traction to your feet.
You are now one step closer to feeling as carefree as if you were on the Bali beaches every time you step into this comfy and stylish KEEN Bali sandal. Thanks to the toe styling, you don’t have to worry about getting sand between your toes.

Each movement your foot makes when walking affects all other part of your body. By wearing other shoes, you don’t provide the necessary support to your heels and arches. Your feet will not be able to function properly, and thus, other body parts will overcompensate. When that happens, chances are you will end up suffering from pain in the ankles, heels, knees and lower back.
It’s no wonder why the KEEN sandals for women are highly rated on many lists. They are lightweight, supportive and flexible, yet well-constructed, sturdy and able to offer great traction.
Being comfortable while walking affects your endurance and speed. With these KEEN womens sandals, you can preserve an injury-free and healthy walking schedule for many years to come.
Quality walking shoes are a must-have whether you’re doing chores or trying to log 10,000 steps a day on
your pedometer. To protect your feet from strain and injury, you need a shoe with a firm supportive sole and a neutral heel.
A good walking sandal is necessary for your spring, summer, and fall activities, but who wants to trade in their cute flats and sandals for a pair of shoes that look like they came from your grandparent’s closet?
Birkenstock understands that quality and comfort alone aren’t enough and are working hard to produce shoes that are also attractive and stylish. The Birkenstock Gizeh Sandal Birko-Flor offers the structure you need in a good walking sandal without sacrificing the style you want.
The Gizeh Birko-Flor sandal combines Birkenstock quality with a classic thong style. The strap has an adjustable buckle and is made of acrylic and polyamide felt fibers. This sandal promises a soft fabric feel against your foot with an attractive, smooth leather-like finish. The lower is made of a lightweight shock absorbent sole with two layers of jute fiber to wick moisture from your feet and a natural cork/latex footbed lined with soft suede.
Unlike floppy foam or jelly thongs that can cause foot strain and injury, this sandal supports your feet in an orthopedically correct position. It features a raised toe bar designed to encourage your feet’s natural gripping motion and aid in leg and foot circulation. The neutral heel profile and deep heel cup keeps your foot in a proper position and distributes your body weight more evenly than flat heels.
Birkenstock’s famous footbed contours to the shape of your foot as you wear them so they will fit your feet as well as a custom orthopedic insert.
This Birkenstock walking sandal is a good choice if you are looking for a stylish women’s walking sandal. It comes in a variety of colors and finishes. Choose a neutral black brown or metallic one to wear with your everyday jeans and shorts. Or pick a stylish patterned or bright color version to accent your favorite skirts, shorts or capris.
The thong style is more modern looking than the classic strapped Birkenstock of yesteryear, but the signature cork footbed and durable rubber soles give it an unmistakable Birkenstock look that fans will recognize. You’ll also find many celebrities fashioning this shoe due to its combination of comfort and flash.
This sandal promises famous Birkenstock comfort in a stylish women’s sandal but, like all Birkenstocks, you will need to wear them around for a while before they conform to your feet. You can’t just throw them on then walk five miles.
The firm soles tend to feel stiff at first and they could take some getting used to especially if you normally wear thin-soled shoes and sandals. Birkenstock recommends getting used to them slowly by wearing them around the house before you start wearing them outside. They recommend wearing them only for a few hours for the first 5 or 6 times you wear them.
The thong style is convenient; you just slip your feet into them and go. It is a good choice for warm weather and mild climates, but if you live in a colder climate you will need to put away your comfortable wool socks to wear a thong style. Thong styles can also be uncomfortable if the thong doesn’t rest between your toes in the right place.
This durable sandal costs more than the average sandal but it will last much longer than cheap, floppy sandals or flimsy flats. Birkenstock is a leading comfort sandal brand that has decades of expertise designing and manufacturing quality sandals.
You can be sure these will stand up to the Birkenstock name and are a great investment in the health of your feet. You will love them for years to come.
Overall, the Birkenstock’s Gizeh Sandal Birko-Flor is a good women’s sandal for those who are looking for comfort and style. The convenient thong style is well suited for warm climates and fits well with any casual look. It doesn’t look like a comfort shoe at all and it will go well with all your summer clothes. Birkenstocks are a popular choice for those who suffer from achy feet or heel pain and need a structured and supportive shoe. It may take a while to break them in but once they are, you’ll never want to take them off.
If this Birkenstocks open toed/thong style sandal doesn’t resonate with you all that well, the Keen Bali is another stylish walking sandal that will turn heads.
You love the great outdoors, right? Finding the right footwear to keep up with your pace can be difficult. High-tech fitness shoes may give you the support you need, but they often can’t take the tough terrain you put them through. Then there’s the matter of water and mud that can damage, stain and reduce their efficacy. Not to mention adding to your washday woes!
What you need is an all-weather, all-terrain shoe, such as good walking sandals, that won’t leave you short when it comes to comfort and technical support. When choosing a walking sandal, make sure you put the following on your checklist. The weight of the shoe, how it fits your foot, how much it allows your foot to move – and of course the sole. Does it have enough traction to deal with slick surfaces? So let’s see how these Keen Clearwater Sandals size up.
There’s a lot of innovative technology that comes with these sandals. Made of polyester webbing with hydrophobic mesh, they are durable and easy to wash and quick to dry. But it’s the smart bungee lacing system across the top of the shoe that really got our attention. Along with the rear pull-on loop, it makes it easy to slip the walking sandal onto your foot, while the toggles keep the bungee laces firmly in place when you’re on the move.
That brings us to support. Can a pair of sandals for walking really handle a tough climb up a trail? Absolutely. The arch of the Keen Clearwater CNX sandals is contoured for added midfoot support. This refers to the cluster of small bones that form the arch of your foot and serves as the foot’s shock absorber.
It also has a 4mm midsole drop – which means a softer landing and less potential for injury. There’s also the matter of stones and other items that may come across your path. The patented toe guard gives you the protection you need. All this won’t mean your feet feel cramped. The multi-directional flex grooves are designed to promote natural flexibility. There’s also plenty of breathing space between the textile, which is treated with Aegis microbe shield lining for a comfortable fit that wicks away moisture from your foot.
There’s no reason to scrimp on style when you purchase a good walking sandal. The Keen Clearwater CNX sandals for women come in a great range of shades – from a hot pink, and turquoise to sophisticated brown and black.
But it’s function, not fashion you’re concerned about, right? The designers of these outdoor sandals ensured that you get the support you need, thanks to the contoured arch. The bungee lace and stretchy lining give you a customized fit, while the multi-directional grooves on the sole will keep you sure-footed on the path. Combined with a 4mm midsole drop, which gives your foot a softer landing, and a contoured arch for superior midfoot support, your feet will be able to tackle even the most challenging terrain.
The heel of these outdoor sandals measure 0.75” – research has shown that the lower the heel, the less likely you will experience injury, which is why all performance running shoes are moving towards a more natural design.
You’ll also be impressed with how easy it is to get these sandals on and off. Pull-on loops at the front and back of the shoe make this possible, as do the Ghillie lacing system with a quick-adjust bungee cord.
These walking sandals are designed to take a beating outdoors, but thanks to the Aegis microbe shield hydrophobic mesh lining, you won’t be held back perspiration. The anti-odor anatomic footbed also eliminates odors which otherwise shorten the life of your footwear.
The benefits of this high-tech walking sandal are numerous. But what stands out is that they are super lightweight (only 8.4 oz for the men’s sandal and 7.6 oz for the women’s sandal) and are machine washable. Keen Footwear, the front runners in outdoor footwear for the past decade create outdoor hiking sandals that are not only practical but are stylish. Their closed toe hiking sandals are great because they give your foot plenty of support and heel cushioning whilst having enough air flow to allow feet to breath.
The closed toe means toes cannot slide too far forward when walking and provides protection from shells and stones you may encounter on your journey. Keen Footwear sandals feature their signature black bumper covering the shoes.Women and men have different needs in hiking sandals. Keen recognizes this and creates footwear to suit the individual needs of both males and females.
The Keen Whisper sandal for women is ideal for all situations, from city street walking to light hiking day trips. Unlike many of their competitors, Keen hiking sandals are extremely flexible. The sandal stretches to your foot, as feet swell during the day; the Whisper sandal accommodates this and stretches with you.

The thick sole gives you protection through rugged terrain, and the sandal has a shock absorbent rubber midsole and heel which takes maximum pressure. Such absorbency means you will not add unnecessary pressure to delicate ankle, knee and back joints.
The sandal has pull straps on the back of the heel, which enables the sandal to easily be put on and pulled off whether it is wet or dry. The straps have a bungy cord in them which can be tightened to secure the foot firmly into the shoe.
Traction support means that these sandals are perfect for wearing in conditions where you may come into contact with water, stones and unsteady terrain. Keen sandals are excellent for water-based activities such as fly fishing, where the terrain beneath the water’s surface can be varied.
Most have the idea that hiking sandals equal unattractive, clunky footwear. The Keen Whisper sandal is available in multiple colors so women can choose a colour that suits them. Unlike many outdoor hiking shoes, the Keen Whisper has a streamlined look about it and is not as bulky as some of its competitors.
Such streamlining gives this sandal a feminine feel, meaning the wearer feels comfortable, protected and attractive whilst donning a pair of Keen Whisper sandals. The insole is treated with an antibacterial spray so even if your feet go from wet to dry and back again, they will stay fresh all throughout the day, eliminating the risk of fungal infections such as tinea.
The suede, mesh and rubber design allows for quick drying, minimizing any dreaded stinky foot smells. They are machine washable, so even if they do come stinky they are easily cleaned.
Another women’s hiking sandals by Keen is the Newport sandals which is also recommended for women who like the comfort of hiking boots but wishes a more breathable sandal.
When it comes to the best walking sandals for men, Keen know that practicality and support are the two most important considerations to factor in to any shoe design. The Arroyo II, gives the stability of a hiking shoe, with the comfort of a sandal, making it the ideal footwear year round.
The Arroyo II has ample support and protection whilst letting feet breathe. Constructed with a leather and mesh upper they are combined with an AGEIS shield, ensuring that stinky foot smells are kept at bay.
It has a bungy cord lace up system. When you pull the toggle at the top, the bungy tightens through the back of the heel and over the top of the foot, keeping the foot snug and secure in the sandal.
Keen advise these sandals run a little big, allowing for hiking socks to be worn throughout winter. As with all of Keen’s sandals, the Arroyo II has the Keen signature rubber toe guard, ensuring that sensitive toes are protected from any rugged matter you may come across on your journey.
A sturdy rubber sole means that whether on the streets on an uphill dirt climb, the Arroyo II has you covered. It has 4mm non slip lugs meaning that no matter what’s under foot you are assured that you will be able to put your best foot forward. These non-directional lugs dig into terrain such as dirt and rocks with determination.
The shock absorbent midsole also takes the brunt of any jarring movement, giving protection to sensitive joints. The combination of the no-slip sole with the shock absorption means these shoes can ever be used for light running throughout your journey.
The Arroyo II is machine washable, so even if you trek these walking sandals through some serious muddy terrain, a quick wash is all that is needed to get looking like new again.
No matter whether you want a shoe that is suited for inner city living or some adventurous hiking day trips, Keen has the hiking sandal best suited to your needs.
When it comes to walking sandals, the Teva Numa Print Sandal is a trailblazer. Teva have been designing outdoor shoes for over 30 years. The name “Teva” means “nature” in Hebrew, and this brand identity lives up to the products they have developed.
They are experts when it comes to innovating sandals for people who love spending time outdoors. They know that with the right gear on your feet, it will make your experience safer, more comfortable and more enjoyable.
Teva’s commitment to producing outdoor performance footwear led to the development of a specific range of outdoor sandals for women. Based on feedback from customers, Teva knows that women want very specific things when it comes to walking shoes. They should be easy to put on and off; offer comfort and support; they should reduce the impact of shock on the foot; they need to be durable and long lasting and of course they need to look good!
Let’s take a look at this women’s Teva sandal that is comfy and durable as well
Numa Print women’s walking sandals are open-toe sports sandals designed with all the outdoor activities you have in mind. The easy slip-on, slip-off functionality, thanks to a rear pull-on loop at the rear of the sandal, make them ideal for camping. They’re comfortable to wear around the camp but quick to slip off before you get into your tent so you don’t bring any of the outside grime inside! Plus, there’s no need to fumble with muddy or dusty laces. The no-laces bungee system means they are really easy to secure – even in the dark and chaos of a campsite!
They are also ideally suited to some of the activities you love as an adventure hunter. Two examples of how they are designed specifically to address your needs are:
The rubber sole and ShocPad cushioned heel offer great shock absorbency so your feet don’t take a pounding on the trail. The heel measures approximately 1 inch. This will cut down on foot pain you may experience when you have worn other walking shoes in the past. The Durabrasion rubber outsole also gives you traction if you are walking on slippery or tough terrain. You don’t want your trip cut short by a bad graze or twisted ankle.
Again, the traction on the outsole means you have the grip you need in slippery situations. Women’s Teva Numa Print sandal also features a water-resistant footbed so your sandals won’t get water clogged at any time. The bonus is that you won’t have to wear wet sandals if you are on an excursion over multiple days – they won’t get soaked in the first place.
Because the laces work on a bungee system, you will never have to worry about trying to undo tricky wet laces either. These outdoor sandals are also easy to pull off using only one hand using the handy strap detail at the rear of the shoe.
Thanks to weather-resistant synthetic uppers, the Teva Numa Print is durable and will last you for many trips to come. If you struggle to find comfortable walking shoes, the women’s Teva Numa walking sandals offer you a flexible fit thanks to the three adjustable straps at the top, heel, and toe. This also means if you want to wear them with socks around the chilly campfire you can adjust them to accommodate the coziest woolen socks.
Another benefit is if your feet become swollen with heat or water retention, you can adjust the straps to ease the discomfort. Pregnant women would find this particularly useful! These outdoor sandals are also available in half sizes, so you can be assured you’ll find the perfect fit for your feet.
Even the most adventurous spirits need a break. If you want to wear the sandals as slip-on sandals around the house or while you are pottering in the garden (or even for a pampering visit to the spa) you can take the back strap off and wear them as a slide shoe. This makes them a great walking sandal, but also a great everyday shoe too!
While the Teva sandals for women are designed for outdoor, active wear, they are also designed in classic, neutral shades that make them great to wear with jeans or shorts wherever you are. The sandals are also made from quality synthetic materials, which means they are highly resistant to wear. They last you a long time, which is exactly what you want when you are investing in outdoor sandals.
The Teva Tirra Sandals were made exclusively to bring unmatched comfort and durability to a woman’s foot. Recently, they introduced a few popular designs that have given women a few excellent options. Let’s take a look at 3 women walking sandals and one choice for kids, below.
The Teva Tirra Sandals for women were designed specifically to provide unparalleled comfort when worn under water. They feature a unique feminine strap configuration that provides a range of strap adjustment options, allowing for a superior fit.
This sandal offers a fantastic grip courtesy of the thick rubber outsole and its original water channelling lug pattern allows you to walk in water while maintaining a solid footing. The outsole uses a patented spider design to optimise the friction under water.
The Teva Tirra sandals provide Microban zinc bacterial protection. They are renowned for offering users the freedom of feeling like they aren’t wearing sandals while offering the maximum in protection underfoot. This sandal gives just that feel while under water, offering safety from the hidden dangers that lurk beneath.
With two adjustable straps on the footbed and one more at the top of the foot, this sandal allows you the flexibility to ensure the securest, most comfortable fit imaginable. So long as you purchase the correct size, you will not suffer from foot rubbing against the ankle strap. The Women’s Teva sandal has found the perfect match of comfort, support, and femininity.
The Teva Tirra leather sandal offers all of the comfort and safety of Teva’s flagship product, but with an added formal flair that makes it the ideal footwear accessory for any occasion.
The sandal features a leather upper with a foam and stretch mesh lining for comfort. The footbed is especially spongy, providing for exceptional shock absorption and cushioning.
With their three-way adjustable straps, the Teva Tirra Sandal is ideal for people with wide feet, allowing for the securest of fit. It also provides great arch support. You may even find that the superior design on the arch system of the Teva Tirra means that you no longer have to wear your arch supports when you slip on your Tevas.
The ankle strap on these sandals sits low enough so that it does not rub against the ankle bone. In addition, the soft padded lining on the inside of the straps ensures that there is absolutely no discomfort at all against the skin.
The Teva Tirra features an insole that has grooves etched into it. Some users find this to be uncomfortable. Overall, however, the Teva Tirra Leather Women’s sandal is a great addition to the Teva line-up.
The Teva Tirra Women’s Slide Sandal was designed specifically for a woman’s foot. It features enhanced grip protection with anti-slip technology designed to ensure maximum stability.
The sandal has grip-tastic soles, along with a soft Shock Pad technology to provide maximum shock absorption. This makes the Teva Tirra Women’s Slide the ideal footwear choice for trail hiking.
The slide sandal provides for an easy on and off. The sandal features a molded footbed for even more comfort. Everything sits on a spider rubber outsole for maximum grip in wet conditions.
Some users have reported that the fit in the slide is a little large. The slide also does not provide the amount of arch support that comes with original Teva sandals for women. The sandal is very appealing aesthetically and comes in a range of stylish colours. It is extremely lightweight and waterproof. The fit also appears to be true to size. The bottom line; the Teva Tirra Women’s slide is both functional and cute! Outdoor flip-flops have never looked, and fit, so good.
The Tiva Tirra Toddler sandal brings all of the great features that you know and love to the feet of your precious toddler – and they look super cute in the process. The Tiva Tirra Toddler sandal is the ideal footwear for your child’s outdoor adventure.
Toddlers put their clothing and footwear through the ringer and the quick dry upper and foam and stretch mesh lining are designed to take the knocks while still providing the ultimate in comfort and safety.
The spongy footbed offers maximum absorption, while the patented rubber outsole offers traction and durability. The triple hook and strap system offers a very secure fit that will keep your youngster securely strapped in. The soft inner padding on the skin side of the straps ensures no chaffing or rubbing of the skin. The outsole of the sandal is also anti-bacterially equipped to prevent microbial contamination.
User reviews attest to the durability of these sandals. Not only can they handle the toughest treatment that you toddler can dish out, but they look stylish enough to wear with formal clothing as well on the beach. They are sure to become your child’s best sandals for walking, running and playing in.
For the past twenty years, Teva has been one of the front-runners in walking sandals. A Grand Canyon river guide realized there was a demand for sandals that provided support and the freedom to explore. From his simple ‘strap in and go’ philosophy, Teva has continually reassessed and modified their design to create the best walking sandal for busy people with adventurous spirits like the Teva Katavi Sandals.
The Teva Katavi Outdoor sandal is great for walking in wet conditions. With its durable rubber sole, these sandals are ideal for moderate terrain where you may come into contact with rocks and unsteady roadways. Many find these sandals ideal for fishing; especially fly fishing where you are dealing with a variety of conditions.
These sandals are lightweight enough to be packed into a hiking pack. They provide a great alternative to hiking boots and are recommended for wearing around the campsite.
The Teva Katavi Sandals are made from suede and mesh, allowing for quick drying no matter the conditions you find yourself in. The EVA topsole has been treated with an antibacterial treatment, so feet stay protected.
One benefit of wearing an open walking sandal is that the foot has the freedom to breathe, minimizing the risk of tinea, especially in wet to dry terrain. These men’s walking sandals are equipped with three different straps, one across the front of the foot, over the base of the ankle and around the back of the heel. The straps are designed to be pulled to create the best fit for each individual foot.
The Teva Katavi Slide is a perfect outdoor sandal for those who are undergoing a large hiking trip and are looking for a sandal to wear during rest periods.
The heel of this slide is created similar to a walking shoe. Cradling the heel gives the wearer the protection and comfort that is desired after a long day on the feet. These sandals are ideal for those who do not like thongs, the thick strap covers enough foot to firmly keep the foot in place, whilst giving the toes plenty of room to wriggle and breathe.
Constructed from suede, mesh, and rubber, these men’s sandals by Teva are quick drying. They are perfect for walking in water (ideal for wearing in a public shower if you are staying at a campsite during your trek). Unlike many other slides, which have a flat sole, the Teva Katavi slide has a deep tread pattern, similar to many outdoor walking sandals.
Many people who have worn the Katavi slide to complete short treks have commented on the safety felt underfoot. Such a tread design also provides shock absorption, cushioning sensitive ankle and knee joints which most likely will deserve a rest after a long day’s hiking.
For those who want the freedom of a thong, with the stability and protection of a walking sandal, the Teva Katavi Thong is for you. Featuring a stylish suede and mesh design, these are ideal for wearing during the summer and are a great everyday sandal.
The suede lining of the top of the shoe is soft so there is a minimum chance of rubbing and cutting into sensitive foot skin, even in wet conditions. The nylon arch shank bed and rubber outsole cradle the heel, providing stability and support.
Unlike the traditional rubber thong, which requires toe and foot pressure to stay on the foot, the Teva Katavi thong’s cradling design keeps the foot in place. These thongs give the wearer to run around without the fear of your thongs flying off in every direction.
The EVA midsole provides maximum shock absorption that running after the toddler will no longer create a jarring effect on your knees as is the case with many thongs. The Teva Katavi Sandals absorb all the shock for you, giving you the freedom to have the fun without the fear of foot and knee injuries.
The rubber sole is full of traction, so no matter the environment you find yourself in, this thong will have you covered. These thongs are ideal for busy men who are looking for a sandal that can be worn every day.
All three of these outdoor sandals are treated with an anti-bacterial treatment, so these sandals can go from wet to dry and back again without getting the dreaded musty smell. If you are looking for a sandal that will take you across all sorts of terrain from a busy home life to rocky shores, an outdoor sandal from the Katavi slide collection is for you.

The Teva Zirra sandal is a great sandal for light day-to-day excursions such as shopping trips and heading to the beach. The minimal strap design gives you the flexibility you need to ensure a snug fit without the height of multiple straps.
The Zirra sandal has a microfiber footbed which is super soft on the bottom of your foot. Even after a long day of walking, these sandals will feel as soft and comfortable as when you first put them on.
As with the previous two Teva sandals for women, the Zirra also has spider tread outsole. Even though it may look like there is not much keeping your foot securely on the ground, the traction lugs on this sandal will ensure that it does the business in both wet and dry conditions.
The straps feature a hook and loop strap which is adjustable to your specific foot shape. The nylon shank keeps the foot stable and in control. The insole has a water-channelling lug pattern, so even if you fully immerse your feet in the water, the water will quickly drain away, ensuring hat you are not left with that sticky ‘shoe and water’ feeling.
The patented Shoc pad keeps your foot and knee joints protected from tension based injuries, as the body’s weight is evenly distributed. The ergonomic midsole further enhances joint integrity. The Teva Zirra sandal comes in a variety of colors. It looks just as good with a summer dress as it does paired with your hiking gear.
All three of these Teva sandals for women are made with Teva’s custom Microban antimicrobial technology. So even if your escapades find you in the most unusual of places, you can be sure your shoes will stay free of bacteria and fungi. This fights off the dreaded ‘stinky foot’ smell many shoes get after a long day’s exploring. The antimicrobial technology also works hard to prevent bacterial and fungal foot infections such as tinea.
No matter what kind of situation you find yourself in, Teva has the shoe to match. By matching style with practicality and support, Teva has forged a well-deserved reputation for creating the unparalleled sandals for the active woman.
For the past two decades, Teva has been one of the front-runners in walking sandals. The Teva brand was developed by a Grand Canyon river guide, who understood that people wanted footwear that provided support while giving them enough freedom to explore the terrain.
Maintaining its ‘strap in and go’ ethos, Teva works tirelessly to continually reassess and modify their footwear to ensure the best support possible for those who crave adventure.
The Teva Omnium for men is an ideal shoe for those who want the stability of a hiking shoe with the flexibility of a sandal. This hybrid shoe is an excellent choice for travellers as the encapsulated Shoc heel cradle will provide support for those hours of walking.
The Teva Omnium cradles the heel, which ensures that sensitive ankle and knee joints are not put under unnecessary strain. As with many Teva outdoor sandals, the Omnium features the bungee cord lacing system. This system allows the shoe to be tightened to a level that is comfortable for your foot. Believing that one size does not fit all, Teva Omnium also has an adjustable ankle strap, which is ideal for those with small ankles.
The sandal features a quick release buckle on the side of the foot, allowing for efficient removal of the shoe if need be. These three fastenings can be tightened so your Teva Omnium fits your foot to perfection. The Teva Omnium Sandals for men are constructed with a non-marking spider sole.
This is ideal for adventures in moderate terrain where you may be exposed to a variety of tracks and rocks. The enclosed toe provides delicate toe bones much-needed protection when you decide to go off the beaten track as well as preventing pesky dirt and pebbles entering the front of the shoe.
This outdoor sandal is a great choice for activities where the wearer goes from wet to dry conditions. The leather and rubber combination dries quickly and prevents that squishy water feeling between the sole of your foot and the shoe. No matter how adventurous you get, there is one thing you can count on – your Teva Omnium will not become stinky.
Teva is famed for their Microban antimicrobial technology. This technology utilises the natural antibacterial properties of zinc to prevent bacteria and fungus festering on the shoe. The antibacterial property decreases the foot’s chances of contracting fungal infections such as tinea.
Other men’s sandals created by Teva are the Tanza and Hurricane XLT, which are recommended as great walking sandal options that contain alternate open-toed features for comfort and breath-ability.
For women, Teva has created the Omnium sandal. Similar to the men’s design, these shoes have been engineered with the female form in mind.
The Shoc pad heel cradles the foot ensuring that these sandals can be worn for hours with minimum discomfort to sensitive joints. They are extremely lightweight, allowing the wearer to examine city streets or hike off the beaten track without the anxiety of footwear that will weigh her down.
The Teva Omnium sandal is equipped with a quick release buckle around the forefoot. This, combined with the bungee cord lacing system give the shoe a fit custom to your foot.
This women’s Teva sandal recognises that women deserve to have a shoe that fits perfectly for them. That is why the Omnium also has a hook and loop strap around the back of the heel. By adjusting these three buckles, the Omnium really can be your own one of a kind walking sandal.
Women’s toes are delicate, so this is a good walking sandal for terrain where you may run into dust, dirt or cobbles. The closed toe protects the front of the foot, while the synthetic and mesh straps over the foot provide enough ventilation to keep the foot cool and free.
While your foot is aired and free, the Teva Omnium also is made with Teva’s custom Microban antimicrobial technology. So even if your adventures find you in the most unusual of places, you can be sure your shoes will stay free of bacteria and fungi.
The mesh and synthetic upper, combined with the rubber sole are extremely hardy and fast drying. This makes this shoe ideal for excursions where you will find your feet in both wet and dry conditions. The Teva Omnium is recommended for water sports where it is important that you will not slip and slide all over the place such as kayaking, river rafting, and canoeing.
The women’s Teva Omnium is available in a range of colors to suit a variety of preferences.

Teva recommends hand washing the straps and topsoil as needed with antibacterial soap and a bristled brush. You can use simple water pressure to clean dirt from grooves in the soles. Leave them out in the shade to dry.
The sandal style and hook-and-loop closure are convenient, you just slip them on and “strap in and go”. They are a great choice to wear on the beach but don’t leave them lying in the sun. The black sole can get quite hot. They are just as comfortable with socks as they are in bare-feet. So feel free to dig out your merino wool socks when the weather turns cold.
This sandal costs more than other sports sandals, but the durability and versatility make it a good value. You will own them for years and take them with you on every adventure, whether you are backpacking overseas, taking the dog for a walk or going on an Alaskan cruise.
Overall, the Teva Kayenta Studded Sandal is a good women’s sandal for those who are looking for a durable and versatile sandal. This Teva is well suited for warm or chilly days and can be worn in the water or on dry land. Its go-anywhere construction makes it a good sandal for walking, kayaking or rafting and it will fit as easily in your gear bag or suitcase as any flip-flop. It has the signature Teva look and durability and your favorite sandal for years to come.
The Keen Bali walking sandal is a secondary stylish option you can use as a comparison.

In the time we live in, health experts constantly stress the importance of physical activity. We spend way more time sitting down behind the computer than before, and simple strolls can go a long way in helping us avoid inactivity-related health issues.
And what’s important with this whole matter is using efficient and good walking sandals in the process. Proper footwear doesn’t only provide foot comfort, it affects your posture as well and relieves your spine muscles from unnecessary stress.
Right now, we’ll present you with two pairs of what we consider as some of finest walking sandals on the market, a couple of Teva Tanza products to fit everyone’s budget, style and personal preferences. A couple of walking sandal reviews awaits below.
Produced in USA with a man-made sole, these synthetic sandals provide maximum comfort with strong, sturdy built. Here’s the meaty bit – these outdoor sandals offer high-quality comfort and have been road-tested by many satisfied users for miles upon miles of trekking. The soles are quite resilient on the pavement and become quite gripping on wet surfaces. The durability of these Teva shoes for men are at very high level, meaning that these Teva men’s sandals are a product that lasts.
Other neat features include a drop-in EVA top sole with a Microban zinc, an Encapsulated Shoc Pad heel, as well as a Spider Original rubber outsole.
The item comes with a standard sandal design available in multiple colors to fit everyone’s taste. Specifically, you can buy these in brown, black and red, black, bronze green, and funky neon lime for all the trendy folks out there. In fact, we consider this sandal as one of our 2 favorite picks for the best Teva sandals for men.
The second Tanza product we’d like to show you is the product’s leather edition. While the price of original Teva Tanza can vary quite a bit based on color and size, the leather version has more of a fixed price tag with equally prominent strong points.
Once again, comfort is the word of the day. Made as a mixture of leather and textile, these Teva sandals come with a comfy rubber sole, a compression-molded EVA midsole, a neoprene and spandex lining, as well as a nylon stability shank.
The build is once again quite strong and comes with the company’s standard set of quality regulations and specifications. On the specs side, the sandals come with a 1.5-inch heel and a 0.75-inch platform. The majority of customer reviews are very positive and praise the product’s durability as an equally strong point as its comfort.
This pair of Teva Tanza sandals rocks a sporty design with a pinch of rustic vibe. They can fit into just about any outfit style or image and are available in a total of two colors – classic brown and a casual walnut pattern.
We’ll wrap it up with a set of advantages and disadvantages regarding both of these products. Number one factor would be great comfort and arch support. These sandals offer a great deal of health benefits and make your hiking treks even more efficient in increasing your overall body health.
Additionally, the majority of users insist that these Teva men’s sandals feature a very sturdy built and are a product that you can use for many years. Finally, the price tag is more than affordable considering the overall quality.
However, a portion of customers did have some issues with the built and reported broken sandals. The frequency of complaints is quite low and unavoidable with mass production, but if you happen to find yourself in a similar position, feel free to contact the company, they offer top-notch customer support.
Are these one of the top walking sandals on the market? They certainly could qualify for that if you like an open toed, comfortable rubber style of sandal for long adventure walking excursions. If you’re looking for quality leather or synthetic sandals for hiking or city walks, we urge you to put a pair of Teva Tenza on your list of considered products.
Users from all walks of life have praised them and the advantages seem to strongly outweigh any disadvantages, meaning that this item has passed the test. Improve your daily hiking routine today!
These sandals may remind a lot of Teva lovers of the Toachi 2.
Let’s be honest; there are times that you’d rather just wear sandals for walking. Maybe shoes are too hot, maybe you’re going to get wet, or maybe you just want to mix up your style a bit when warm weather comes around.
In any case, your options seem kind of lousy at first; you can wear flip-flops or slide sandals, but then you’re fighting just to keep them on your feet. You can always try toe-shoes, but if your feet don’t perfectly fit inside, these are going to be more trouble than they’re worth.
Your best choice is probably going to be a sport sandal, and nobody knows sport sandals better than Teva, the company that pioneered the whole concept back in the 80’s. If you want a walking sandal that’s just as tough as the trail you’re walking, you can’t go wrong with the Teva Toachi 2 model. Here’s a look at both the men’s and women’s version.
This particular model of Teva men’s sandals is designed to take some serious abuse and come out smelling fresh (in more ways than one). Just like all their other models of walking sandal, the Teva Toachi 2 has a spider rubber outsole and a zinc microbial treatment in the synthetic upper, meaning that you’re going to get a seriously solid grip on anything you step on, and you can wear these with or without socks.
Of course, this model is also a bit beefier, acting almost like shoes in their own right. With a serious system of drainage channels, these sandals hold as little water as possible, perfect for the hiker who just wants to cross a stream once and forget about it in thirty minutes (rather than carry that stream around all day).
In addition, the Toachi 2’s Mush infused sole means that you’re going to be getting a lot of foot-forming cushioning with every step in these sandals, perfect for anybody carrying a heavy load, anybody who might have joint problems or even somebody who wants to use these as trail-jogging footwear. If you’re looking for versatility, these are some of the best sandals out there.
Already, you can tell that this is a real benefit for anybody who likes the outdoors, but is tired of low-quality sport sandals giving up on them halfway up the trail. Even if you’re a die-hard boot-wearing backpacker, you’d do well to have a pair of these around; fold them up in your backpack, pull them out when you get to your camp, and save your feet all the blistering and sweating while still being able to do everything you’d normally do.
Once again, Teva doesn’t discriminate between women’s and men’s shoes; Teva women’s sandals are going to be as tough as their male counterparts, just designed to accommodate a woman’s foot instead.
Far from being pretty fashion sandals, the women’s Teva Toachi 2 has the whole durability package; spider rubber outsole, zinc treated antimicrobial insole lined with Mush and a Shoc-Pad in the heel, drain channels, the whole nine yards.
The stability shank runs along the full length of the instep, so these shoes are going to stay rigid enough to avoid rubbing your feet, no matter how fast you have to move.
Just because these sandals are tough as nails doesn’t mean they can’t look good as well. The Toachi 2 gives you the best advantages of a lightweight springtime sandal without being overly feminine; if you’re not the kind of girl who likes walking a mile in wedges or stilettos and is tired of sweating in sneakers, you’ll find that the Toachi are one of the top walking sandals for you, a beauty of both form and function, cushioned like a shoe but breathable like a sandal.
They work whether you’re on the trail or just walking around town and, once again, don’t look or feel out of place in either. If you just want one pair of sandals to use for everything you possibly can, the Teva Toachi can cover you through pretty much anything.
If you prefer to have your toes covered but with the comfort of a walking sandal, you can also try the Teva Women’s Ewaso sandals as an option.
Conclusion? A Trail Sandal, Through and Through.
The Toachi 2 were designed to be some of the most comfortable walking sandals available, particularly for those of you who don’t mind crossing creeks or swimming in secluded mountain lakes. They’re padded like a trail shoe, rigid enough to avoid rubbing places on your feet, and flexible enough to move with you without slowing you down.
Even if you’re not a hardcore backpacker, you can still really benefit from the added support and comfort you get with these sandals. If you’re ever going outside and don’t want your feet to sweat in uncomfortable trail shoes, the Toachi 2’s are probably the best alternative you can think of.
If you’re trying to be a more active woman, it goes without saying that you need a good pair of shoes. Of course, if you’re going to be exercising in hotter places, or you just want to let your feet breathe better during the summer months, you might have considered a pair of sport sandals.
Unfortunately, you might have immediately discarded the idea when you thought about exposing your toes to the sun, insects, or low brush.
Well now, you can revisit that idea, secure in the knowledge that you can have both toe protection and all the good parts of a solid sport sandal in the Teva Women’s Ewaso Sandal.
When you get a pair of Teva sandals for women, you’re getting all the benefits of the Teva company as well. As one of the pioneers in sport sandals, every possible advantage has been brought to you.
From the gripping Teva proprietary Spider Rubber outsole to the Shoc Pad heel cushion, not only are you going to be able to stay firmly rooted anywhere you stand, but you’ll suffer much less per footfall than normal sport sandals. Already, you can tell why having these advantages in women’s Teva sandals are important than normal sport sandals. Already, you can tell why having these advantages in women’s Teva sandals are important
The biggest advantage, however, is the toe cover on the Teva Ewaso; you don’t have to worry about getting your toes cut open on underbrush, rubbed against poison ivy, or bitten by bugs, all hazards that come with normal sport sandals once you get off the beaten path.
But what about the advantages you didn’t think of? Case in point, the Teva Ewaso is absolutely perfect for anybody who swims in lakes, rivers, or other natural bodies of water. As anyone who’s ever stood in a riverbed will tell you, the bottom is full of sharp rocks; you could walk around without shoes, but you run quite a risk.
Once you get normal shoes wet, however, they stay wet for the rest of the day; this can lead to mold in your shoe or even on your foot. If you get normal sandals wet, they’ll drain quickly, but you run the risk of scooping up material from the bottom of whatever water you step in. Specially designed water shoes cover all your bases for being in the water, but wear out quickly on land.
A quick look at the Teva Ewaso’s features (a closed toe, Spider Rubber, and multiple drainage openings) tells you that these women’s Teva sandals cover the best of all three. The Ewaso sandals are absolutely perfect for going from land to water and back without damaging the shoe, your foot, or holding water all day, a real plus for anyone who really wants to enjoy nature.
The reviews for the Teva Ewaso are generally positive, with most women saying that they fit snug, feel comfortable, and really allow their feet to breathe, with or without socks. As expected, a lot of positive reviews also came from women who use them as water shoes, much sturdier and more comfortable than the competition while still able to bead off the water.
Unfortunately, a lot of the negative reviews of this product center on just how snug this shoe can be, as well as its lack of support for feet with special needs. Once you can get the shoe on, however, the complaints about this product almost entirely dry up.
While the snugness of these sandals can be a problem early on before they’re broken in, simply attach a soft piece of fabric to the back of the heel strap and keep it on until your new sandals are broken in, and that should solve most of your problems.
Teva makes some of the best sandals for walking and the Ewaso is no exception. These good walking sandals are a solid combination of quality materials and smart design that give you the lightness of a sport sandal and the protection of a hiking shoe. While the Ewasos may take a little breaking in before they’re ready for the trail, the first time you dip your shoes in a cool mountain stream, you’ll know it was all worth it.
The Teva company, established in 1984, has had more than 30 years of footwear design and production experience under their belts. As a result, they have perfected their design of sandals in terms of functionality and aesthetic appeal. Amongst Teva’s many lines of footwear is the Teva Olowahu, which is a fantastic line of walking footwear for women. It is a great choice of walking footwear as it is comfortable and breezy, no matter whether you want to take a walk along the beach, in the park, or even in the mall.
This makes it a great choice of outdoor sandals for the adventurous since it is extremely versatile. Use it for beachwear. Use it for everyday casual footwear. Or even use it for trekking trips. In fact, the Teva line was founded by a Colorado River guide, and so you can be assured that the people making your Teva footwear know their stuff.
Two particular products that stand out in the Teva Olowahu line are the Teva Women’s Olowahu Sandals and the Teva Women’s Olowahu Flip Flop. They are both excellent in terms of design, comfort and value for money.
If you’re looking to get ready for summer, then you definitely cannot go without the Teva Olowahu Sandals. It’s a great pair of walking sandals that is lightweight and yet sturdy. Made out of fabric, this Teva walking sandal is guaranteed to be extremely comfortable and squishy, perfect for a comfortable walk.
The cute criss-cross strap design is effective yet functional. Made out of nylon, it is guaranteed to be able to hold your foot in place much more effectively than your average sandals for walking. Now, you may wonder whether the Olowahu provides good arch support since it is squishy.
This is definitely a valid concern, but the designers at Teva have thought of everything! Even though the sandals are designed to be squishy and comfortable, they also provide excellent arch support and are extremely sturdy due to the cross over thong with three-point construction and soft EVA topsole. The EVA outside also has Mush traction pattern.
The great thing about Teva Women’s Olowahu Sandals is that they are extremely durable, and that is something that makes them more than worth their price. The sole of the sandals is manmade, so you can be assured of its incredible quality.
The approximately 1-inch heel and ¾ inch platform are fantastic and sturdy, and the treaded rubber outsole gives great grip on both dry and wet surfaces. So no matter whether you are heading out to the poolside or walking along in the countryside, you won’t ever have to worry about your Teva Olowahu Sandals failing you.
If you are more of a flip flop person rather than a sandals person, don’t worry for Teva has something for you as well. Teva Olowahu flip flops are a fantastic product in the outdoor performance footwear market and are ideal for spring or summer.
Made of textile, and with a synthetic sole, the Olowahu flip flop offers incredible quality at a more than affordable price. It is definitely easy on the eyes as well. It boasts a feminine design with decorative graphic straps that any female, young or old, will absolutely adore.
With a heel measuring approximately 0.75 inches and a platform measuring 0.5 inches, these walking flip flops are sturdy and durable. The Mush foam sole also ensures that you will have the most comfortable walking experience possible. In fact, you could walk for hours without your feet starting to ache.
An improved version of the traditional thong flip flop, this Teva Flip Flop has two additional crossing straps that ensure that the flip-flops will fit snugly on your feet. You can even adjust the crossing strap to ensure a perfect fit for a more comfortable walk.
All in all, the Teva Women’s Olowahu line of footwear is fantastic both in terms of functionality, comfort, and design. No other line of walking footwear will be able to measure up to it, especially in terms of value for money.
So the next time you need a reliable pair of sandals for walking and outdoor performance footwear, don’t bother to look through tons of walking sandals reviews. Just opt for Teva Olowahu Sandals or Flip Flops. We guarantee that you won’t be disappointed.
For active women who want both toe protection and all the good parts of a solid sports sandal, you may consider having a look at the Teva Ewaso walking sandals.
Just because you’re wearing a sandal to walk doesn’t mean it can’t have a little class. Maybe you’re just looking for a walking sandal that’s sturdy enough for walking down beaches and downtown, looking out of place in neither, rather than a sport sandal with elastic cords or bright colors.
Maybe you’re just looking for the basics done well; nice rich leather walking sandals that stay on your foot, stay comfortable, and have a distinguished look. If that’s the case, you deserve a company with a long history of almost two hundred years in the shoe business making you some of the best looking walking sandals you’ve ever worn. What you’re looking for is the Clarks Morse Tour Sandal.
With the Morse Tour Sandal, you’re getting a sandal designed with quality in mind. Just like on their men’s sandals, these sandals for women are full-leather and designed with Clarks’ signature style. The EVA foam outsole gives you a sturdy platform to stand on, while the OrthoLite footbed keeps your feet comfortable.
Of course, that’s all a moot point if the straps on your sandals are going to rub blisters onto the tops of your feet. Fortunately, with the Morse Tour Sandals, that’s not a problem. In addition to the adjustable hook-and-loop closure, the entire inside of the sandal is fabric-lined. It’s just like a much more cushioned, much more flexible upper on a walking shoe.
But how does this benefit you? Just like its name suggests, the Morse Tour Sandal is perfect for (can you guess?) touring. When we say “touring”, we mean the kind of touring that’s both inside beautiful cities and picturesque countrysides, the kind that isn’t just one or the other.
While you may want to wear a hiking boot to explore the Italian countryside in the morning, it might look and feel out of place at an upscale restaurant for dinner. The same is true in reverse; you wouldn’t wear formal women’s sandals anywhere without pavement, and even then, not for very long. With the Clarks Morse Tour Sandal, you get all the durability of a good walking shoe and the style of a formal sandal in the same package.
Anybody who’s ever done any touring will tell you not to weigh yourself down, and that definitely applies to footwear; if you can take just one pair of sandals that both look good and feel good, that’s one less thing you have to carry (and, more importantly, one less thing you can lose).
When you have a pair of Clarks sandals, you really have the advantage of choice; whether you want to look formal or outdoorsy, these sandals can help you pull it off.
If you need sandals for walking through busy urban centers, you can really play up the temperate-to-tropical dressy angle with capris or a short dress. Once you get outside of the cities and into the woods, you can keep the Morse Tour Sandals and change out to track shorts, jean shorts, full jeans, or even zip-offs: both zipped on and zipped off.
No matter what you do, these sandals still mesh with your outfit; they’re not so bold as to steal attention and demand your outfit follow their lead, but they’re also not strictly utilitarian and ugly.
As expected from Clarks women’s sandals, the reviews are generally pretty positive. On Amazon, women love to talk about how comfortable these sandals are, as well as the arch support they provide, as well as the fact that they look good in most every scenario.
In particular, women who have had recent knee or back surgery and have had trouble walking comfortably find these sandals to be a Godsend. Because they have got more support than purely decorative fashion sandals, they’re much easier on your joints.
One thing you do need to watch out for on these sandals is the front strap. While it looks like a functional strap, the majority of negative Amazon reviews will tell you that it’s aesthetic and can’t be adjusted. Once you get around that minor detail, however, the sandals are adjustable pretty much everywhere else. If you’re having problems with the front strap, it’s easy to let out the heel strap a bit and move your foot back on the footbed a bit.
The Clarks Morse Tour sandals for women are a good pair of jill-of-all-trades shoes, perfect for looking good and feeling good wherever you are. As long as you take care of the leather, you really can use these for both formal occasions and hikes; take really good care of it, and you can probably do both in the same evening.
Want more sporty-look sandals? You may opt to choose Teva Ewaso walking sandals for women as walking sandals reviews indicate this is a smart choice.
Footwear often escapes our attention when shopping, especially the flip flops and sandals. It is not until we end up with a sore foot during a strenuous travel routine that we realize the need to buy a good pair of sandals. Surfing shops for the best walking sandals can be quite a hectic task given the huge variety available in the market. Among all the sandals that could qualify as the ideal walking sandals for travel, the Keen Whisper Sandals and Keen Whisper Slide Sandals are definitely worth an in-depth look.
If you are travelling on foot in a water logged area, then the water resistant Keen Whisper Sandals may just turn out to be your best friend. Weighing 8.8 ounces, this sandal is far from ordinary. In fact, it’s one of our top 3 women sandal choices overall and securely in our list of the top Keen women’s sandals.
It is equipped with a quick draw elastic cord lacing system that can be adjusted according to your requirements. The strap of the sandal has a secure metatomical design and the polyester webbing upper can be washed with water without causing any damage to the product. Perhaps the most impressive features about the sandal are the metatomical foot-cushioning and the EVA shaped footbed that comes with Microban.
The EVA midsole of the Keen Whisper Sandal is low profile and is also compression molded. Not to mention, your toes will be kept safe from unwanted bumps courtesy of the patented toe protection. Last but not the least, ladies who have a problem with smelly feet and sandals will be glad to know that the Keen Whisper Sandals feature an odor-reducing Microbe Shield that will keep the stench away for a long duration.
These features speak volumes about the Keen Women’s Whisper Sandal. To sum up the pros, we can conclude that:
If you are looking for a pair of comfortable sandals to beat the summer heat, then the Keen Women’s Whisper Slide Sandal may be your desired product. This is a slip-on slide sandal that is designed to let you slide into the comfort of Keen ever so easily.
A number of impressive features have been incorporated into the sandal including the webbing upper that has a stretch mesh lining that gives your skin the quick dry comfort it deserves. The bungee lacing of the sandal can be easily adjusted and the vintage Keen protection keeps your feet secure for months on end. For improved traction, the Keen Whisper Slide Sandal is fitted with a non-marking rubber outsole.
Much like the Keen Whisper Sandals, this women’s footwear keeps odor at bay through the AEGIS Microbe Shield that provides anti-odor and anti-microbial protection. Besides toning down the stench, the AEGIS Microbe Shield makes sure that the product does not deteriorate due to rough usage. Ladies who require arch support and cushioning will find the metatomical EVA footbed of the Slide quite useful.
Here is a list of pros that may tilt you in favor of buying these walking sandals.
Both the Whisper and the Whisper Slide work well as outdoor footwear. The Whisper Sandal in particular is a great buy if you are into water sports and heavy duty travelling. The Whisper Slide Sandal on the other hand is a breath of fresh air in an age of heavy sandals that slow you down and tire you out.
Despite these benefits, both of them run small, it’s preferable to buy 1 size larger than your size to get the best out of these shoes. If the sizing problem is taken care of, then buying these sandals should be a no brainer.
If you’re in the market for a pair of walking sandals, you may find that you’re still stuck on one of their fundamental problems; no matter how comfortable they are, you still find yourself kicking rocks and hurting your toes. You don’t want to scrap the idea because of all the positive parts about walking sandals, like the breathability and the comfort, but you do need some kind of toe protection.
This is where Keen comes in. A company that was founded just twelve years ago in California. Keen has grown by leaps and bounds selling walking sandals with a thick toe guard. By combining the breathability, support and comfort of a sandal with some real toe protection, Keen is the perfect fit for those of you who want to feel confident taking their walking sandals off the beaten path.
Here today, we’ve got two prime examples of Keen women’s sandals, designed for the trail but comfortable enough for anywhere else. These are certain to make an impact on your outdoor excursions from the moment you put them on.
Keen’s top selling women’s sandals have a lot going for them right out of the gate. A tough rubber sole running up to the standard black toe guard gives you all the durability you need, while the EVA footbed and neoprene lining feel good on your sole and ankles.
What this model does differently, however, is that it uses quickdraw elastic cord and an on-heel loop to secure itself to your feet, rather than straps or laces. This means that the sandal is going to fit snug across the entire length of the upper and doesn’t require any tying or adjusting.
The anti-microbial lining and textile upper means that this sandal has a good chance of resisting foot odor and, failing that, can be easily washed. It’s a pretty safe bet that wherever you’re walking, the Whisper is going to stay with you.
Having such a secure hold on your feet means that, in addition to being a comfortable trail sandal, the Whispers are perfect sandals for women who like rougher watersports. If you’re worried about losing your sandals in fast currents, having a snug elastic cord keeping them on your feet is a huge comfort. Plus, once you’re done in the water, these sandals drain quickly through well-designed drain channels, so you can move from the water to the trail without changing shoes or carrying the whole stream with you all day.
If you’re looking for a trail running sandal that can take the occasional stream and protect your toes from roots and rocks, then the KEEN Whisper is your best choice. Our detailed write-up of the Whisper will explain further.
Definitely designed for the woman who likes her hiking boots but wishes they were more breathable, the Newports are KEEN sandals for women that look like stripped down boots. The whole thing is done up in leather and laced up with a tough elastic bungee cord, but this sandal is vented to drain water, just like its less formal companions.
What isn’t stripped down on the Newport, however, are the features. In addition to KEEN sandals’ signature hard rubber toe, these sandals have a serious outsole that grips surface wet or dry, plus a metatomical EVA foam footbed that keeps your foot as comfortable as possible.
Already, you can tell what this walking sandal was designed for; to be a more water-tolerant, easier breathing trail shoe. To that end, you can do with the Newport pretty much anything you had initially planned to do with a good trail shoe, whether that’s trail running, hiking, or, as their sales pitch points to, sailing.
Even if all you want to do with KEENs sandals is walk, the Newports have you covered as well; they look so much like shoes that, if you wore dark socks with them, nobody would even know the difference. If you really don’t like having your feet sweat while you walk, the Newports from KEEN are going to quickly become your best friends. Read our full review of the Keen Newport H2 here.
While both of these women’s KEEN sandals are great improvements over slide-ons or flip-flops, it’s pretty clear that both the Whisper and the Newport were designed with different purposes in mind, most notably in exposure to water.
If a little water is the exception rather than the norm, you’re better suited to the leather Newports. If, however, you’re going to be spending a lot of time wearing your new walking sandals in the water, you’d have better luck with the Whisper.
Keen has a variety of outdoor footwear designed for your feet’s comfort. You can choose from different Keen sandals best for your feet if the Whisper and Newport are not your style.
If you are after optimum footwear comfort, it’s hard to look beyond a sandal. Designed to mimic the freedom of walking barefoot with the protection of a sole, walking sandals are the shoe of choice for the warmer months.
The past decade has seen an increase in individuals, friends and families embracing their outdoor spirit, and heading off the beaten track in search of adventure. As many of these ones prefer the ultralight or ‘glamping’ style of hike, walking sandals have firmly cemented themselves as a must-have for trekkers.
As many have also cottoned on the orthopedic benefits of walking, sandals are now a popular alternative to flip flops and other day-to-day footwear also. With so many on the market, how does one know how to ensure they are not purchasing a dud? Before rushing out to the stores, make sure you know how you can get the best walking sandals that will not only look great but support you through the summer months and many more in the future.
The first thing to consider when purchasing a pair of walking sandals is whether to go for an open or closed design. Much of this is personal preference, however, you should take note of the differences between the two:
Open toed sandals no longer need to be reserved merely for hiking day trips or the annual family holiday. Many have found that wearing specialized open toe walking sandals have helped immensely with posture and orthopedic ailments. Unlike fashion sandals, the majority of walking sandals come with arch support, which makes them the perfect summer choice for people who complain of Plantar Fasciitis, calf stiffness, back strain from periods of prolonged walking, and bad knees.
However, there are a handful of stylish walking sandals that give both the allure of cool while also providing hours of walking protection.
Brands such as Teva, who have been the front runners in sports sandal footwear for decades, design the best walking sandals for travel and everyday use that contour to the shape of your feet. In the last few years, they have been collaborating with top designers and sports physiologists to create good walking sandals that not only provide podiatric benefits and enhanced performance but also match the current fashion trends.
If though, you are planning to tough out some serious terrain, you will definitely need a walking or hiking sandal with support. Many open sandal designs now incorporate a 50/50 design, where there are some straps by the toe to prevent foot slippage, but still with open slits so the feet can breathe. This helps keep the foot in place, but will not protect the toes from falling debris which could cut, bruise or break delicate toe bones. If planning a small journey on rocky terrain, it is wise to consider covered sport sandals.
Open designs are great for people who want a fast slip-on outdoor sandal that can easily be thrown into a backpack or tote. Walking flip flops, the most affordable of open design sandals, are well suited for beach outings as they dry almost instantly. However, some don’t provide support for the heel and often wearers receive blisters from the two straps running over the top of the foot. However, Teva and Keen have made some very impressive water sandals that will give you long-lasting comfort without ruining the materials or causing blisters.
If you are walking in a rocky or unsteady track, a closed toe version will be the best walking sandal option. It prevents your foot from moving too far forward as you walk and also provides protection from any falling debris that you may encounter. These outdoor sandals for men or women are generally made out of a more solid material than open toed shoes, and therefore do not have the same flexibility as their open-toed counterparts.
Such rigid material, especially the soles, are beneficial on longer hikes and they will not wear as quickly as softer, more pliable materials.
Acting as an intermediary between a sandal and a full blown hiking boot, closed toe sandals are good for water based activities such as fly fishing, where the terrain beneath the water’s surface can be varied, which is why a reputable pair is often referred to as water sandals. Closed toe sandals can take a considerable length of time to dry out however, so are not as useful for the beach or activities that involve wading and/or swimming. Closed toe sport sandals are also ideal for walking long distances or when you are on your feet all day.
With many great sandal options in the marketplace, it can become overwhelming to know which ones to avoid and go directly to the sandals that are going to give you the most comfort and best bang for your buck. Fortunately through extensive research, we’ve been able to narrow the choices down to five. We present the top 5 best walking sandals:
Designed with the outdoors-man in mind, these Newport H2 Walking Sandals from KEEN are the perfect pair for a man who wants to walk through either wet or dry trails. Even from the first look, you can tell that these walking sandals were designed to work like stripped-down boots; from their vented design to their bungee laces and even to the patented KEEN toe guard, these sandals blur the line between a hiking shoe and a sandal to give you both solid traction and foot protection combined with incredible breathability.
The Newports also work incredibly well as water shoes, perfect for water sports or just walking through cool mountain streams on the trail. Their vented design, combined with their anti-microbial treatment means that, whether you choose to wear socks or not with these sandals, odor is never going to be a problem.
Even if it does, these sandals, like all of KEEN’s water sandals, can be washed in your washing machine. If you’re looking for a pair of walking sandals that can take you across town or across a stream with equal ease, you could do a lot worse than the KEEN Newport H2 walking sandals. They’re considered to be the best sandals for walking hands down.
There’s a good reason that Teva is synonymous with active sandals, and not just because they were one of the first companies to try; equal parts style and substance, their Hurricane XLT is a great example of exactly what Teva can do for your feet. Even though it looks simple enough, it’s the little details that make this sandal worth your while.
The outsole is Durabrasion rubber, which gives you just enough grip on the ground without sticking you to it, while the heel is compacted EVA foam that’s been treated with antimicrobial zinc and padded with Shoc Pad technology to cut down on fatigue on your joints. Heck, even the shank that holds the strapping system together is made of nylon, so it won’t cut holes in the tops of your feet after a long day on the trail.
As for style, Teva’s Hurricane XLT is the current style for both men and women on college campuses all throughout the South, so whether you’re getting them for yourself or as a gift, you’ll be using these just as much for feeling good as looking good. These are probably the best walking sandals for Disney World 🙂
For when you want to be both feminine and tough out on the trail, the Tirra athletic sandal from Teva has you taken care of. Designed with a woman’s foot in mind, the Tirra is an incredibly solid choice for sailing, rafting, or simply as a pair of backup shoes around the campsite.
In addition to the lug pattern designed to keep water out and a neoprene lining designed to dry quickly, these sandals have Teva’s super tough gripping Spider rubber outsole, so even in the wettest conditions, you’ll always be able to grip the ground and keep your footing.
Combine this with the Shoc Pad in the heel, the compressed EVA foam midsole, and the multiple points of adjustment for your straps, and you’ve got an athletic sandal that not only stays on your foot through the toughest conditions but one that actually feels good to wear. It’s one of our favorite Tirra models. It’s probably the best women’s walking sandals.
From the ground up, the women’s Whisper sandal from KEEN is designed to work with whatever you find on the trail. These sandals slide on easily and stay on snug with the bungee cord lace-up system, drain water, mud and sand easily through their designed drain channels and hydrophobic mesh, and feel good on your feet with a compression molded EVA foam midsole designed for a woman’s foot.
And when we say “designed for a woman’s foot”, the Whisper sandals pulled out the stops; they’ve got KEEN’s metatomical design to work with your foot’s natural arch. Whether you’re a young woman looking to trail run in something light and breathable without risking smashed toes, or an older woman just looking for a comfortable pair of sandals to walk around town, the Whisper from KEEN has you covered every step of the way. This shoe qualifies as one of our favorite women Keen models. You can read the full review of the Keen Whisper.
Perfect for the woman who just wants to slip into sandals and forget about them, the Teva Zirra is designed to be a minimalist’s best friend. With its minimal strap setup, it’s easy to set these sandals to your feet comfortably and easily.
Of course, just because these sandals are featherweights doesn’t mean that they’re delicate; these sandals have Teva’s Shoc Pad in the insole and the outsole is their super-sticky Spider rubber compound, so you can grip anything you put your foot on and feel comfortable doing it. A great choice for a woman who wants a comfortable pair of sandals they can stow in their purse when they’re sick of formal heels or shoes that don’t breathe.
There is much more to consider when purchasing a pair of walking sandals than whether you will be exposing your toes or not. Before pulling out your wallet, it’s important to take the following into consideration:
Your foot should not be fighting the walking sandal, instead, it should be flexible to roll with every step you take. Too loose of a walking flip flop and you’ll be sliding around with discomfort. Too rigid of a sole will become an annoyance with every forward step. The best sandals are ones that flex in the forefoot, so make sure to avoid cheap walking sandals at all costs. There are many walking sandals that offer the proper amount of flexibility and support that come with many cross training shoes.
When purchasing a new pair of sandals, consider the kind of terrain you will be wearing these shoes in. Walking sandals are recommended for light terrain or shorter walks and as an alternative to hiking boots when you arrive at rest points.
Sandal wearers will eventually become used to the sandals and are able to walk with them for 10 miles. Walking sandals also are good for beach and river walks. As most sandals for walking are designed to dry out a lot faster than closed in shoes, they are particularly good for people who are predisposed to getting tinea and other fungal infections.
Most sandals only have contact with a small portion of the foot. These areas tend to be put under greater pressure than they would with covered shoes. Such pressure and rubbing can lead to blisters. To minimize such occurrences, look for outdoor sandals with wider straps. Buying sandals with leather straps can also help, as the leather softens over time. For people with highly sensitive feet, ‘breaking in’ your sandals, by wearing them at home with socks on can help soften the straps before venturing on outdoor excursions.
If you are purchasing the men’s or women’s sandals as an alternative to your hiking boots on long journeys, how much room and weight will they take up in your pack? A covered sandal may provide more stability than an open toed sandal, but at double the weight, you need to consider if a closed toe sandal is really necessary.
For best protection from possible fungal infections, your sandals should be waterproof. Sandals that are constructed from rubber and synthetics are your best bet for dealing with water. A rubber closed toe water sandal is recommended for activities in creeks, the closed toe protects the foot, while the rubber dries off almost instantly during the walk back to your car or camp site.
Feet swell throughout the day and it’s important to remember this when purchasing a pair of walking sandals. The best time to try on sandals is late in the afternoon when your feet have expanded after being on them all day. When purchasing a pair of open toed sandals for walking, aim to have at least a thumb width of space between the top of the toes and the end of the sandal. This helps to keep any dust or small stones that may fling up on to the sandal away from the toes.
For truly long distance walking that can often lead to higher elevations or rock and gravel, trail sandals are a good choice because of their natural ability to handle advanced terrain. They contain toe guards to avoid pressure on the toes or accumulating too much dirt on the path.
The sole of an outdoor trail sandal is built durable but can cause discomfort if the expectation is to walk long distances. Rugged options among Teva, Keen, and Merrell are very good options.
The most important consideration in selecting the best sandals for walking or traveling is to choose what feels right for you. You are the best judge of what is right for your feet. Trying several different varieties of walking sandals before making a decision on what works for you. By following the guidelines above, you will be ready to make an informed decision of what walking or sport sandal will work best for you, and by doing so can ensure the purchase of a quality piece of footwear that will last many outdoor excursions.
