Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. So it all boils down to what you're going to use your shoes for and for your Ironman needs, the Cliftons seem to be your better choice. I hope the things you're going to see and do will be as amazing as ever.

This review sealed it for me. I think I will stick with Clifton's. I have run in both and found the Rincon's to be a little stiffer and the rubber on the sole seams to wear out faster. Since I mainly train for Ironman and marathons, I'm better served with a more cushioned/softer shoe being in my mid-50s. Thanks for such a great comparison.

Thanks for the nice comment ChuckB. Gongrats on your PB. I couldn't agree more, the Clifton 6 is great for logging some miles in and the Carbon X is sure to deliver the sped needed. Keep running no matter what :)

Great review which has helped me a lot. I’ve ran about 80 miles in total in my Rincons but also decided to retire them. The fit is very narrow (I have never had anything other than standard fitting shoes) and has been causing pain in the balls of me feet. There is no wide option for the Rincon. I also have a pair of Carbon X and they are a perfect fit (also helped me to a 5k PB!). After reading your review I’ve ordered some Clifton 6 (standard width) in the hope that they will be a little wider than the Rincons. I plan to use the Cliftons for my long marathon training runs and use the Carbon X on the big day. Really hope Hoka bring out a wide version of the Rincon as it is a fantastic shoe.

Thank you so much for your comment. I'm very sorry for your unpleasant experience with the Rincon, but it's just how it is. We keep testing running shoes until we find the right shoe for us. Just keep running no matter what :)

Good overview!
I got the Rincon in Summer and had to retire it after only 100k. It is just too narrow. My feet are between normal and 2E on a Brannock, and I usually don't have issues with D shoes. The Rincon, however, is so narrow that my balls of feet overlapped the side of the shoe to a degree that they would start to become very painful after about 6 miles on every run.
Will try the Clifton 6 now that you mentioned their being quite a bit wider than the Rincons, and might even go for a 2E.
Thanks for the comparison, again
